Downgrading bios with flashrom on ASUS X570 no longer possible?

flashrom no longer allows me to downgrade showing the above.

I flashed the new 3405 bios thinking I could downgrade if necessary, since the flashrom method has always worked for me. Unfortunately, it caused my PC to lock up completely for the first time. My board does not have flashback.

In the meantime, I’ve tried everything I could think of to no avail.

I have a CH341A programmer, but it does not look like it will work for a 32MB-sized bios? If it can, please let me know. I’m desperate at this point.

ASUS has suggested sending the board to a local service centre which I’m not keen on doing at all considering the current COVID-19 situation in my country.

It can. Flash the BIOS with a hardware programmer.

Hi @Sweet_Kitten

Thanks. Your reply gives me hope, but I was unable to find any success stories on flashing a 32MB-sized bios with a CH341A programmer. I also believe some info would need to be extracted from the current bios and inserted into the ROM before flashing it which may not be possible if things are encrypted?
