Enabling ECC memory on non-ECC capable chipset

Hello,

I have a board with Q77 Express chipset (Ivybridge) with a 3rd Gen Intel Core i7-3770 CPU. I have the schematics of the board which show the ECC lines are routed between the DIMM slots and the CPU. I have also bought a Xeon E3-1275 v2 to test the ECC UDIMM. I can boot the machine with the Xeon CPU with an unbuffered ECC DIMM (registered DIMMs have too big latency and the memory training simply fails), however, I see the ECC is not initialized because the ECC capability is not present. I know there is a handshake between the chipset and CPU before the CPU is released from reset by ME. This handshake changes the fuses based on the detected CPU SKU (Q77 isn’t supposed to support Xeon CPUs so it disables the ECC). My question is if there is a way to bypass this handshake? Will me_cleaner help in this case? Has anybody had a similar case?

Thanks in advance.
