Hi,
I am requesting help with unlocking or modifying the BIOS for my laptop:
- Laptop Model**: ASUS TUF Gaming FX506HX
- BIOS Version/Date-American Megatrends International, LLC. FX506HF.312, 05-07-2024
- CPU**: Intel i5 - 11th Gen 11400H
- GPU**: NVIDIA RTX 2050 (dGPU) + Intel UHD (iGPU)
- BIOS Type**: AMI Aptio V (Insyde variation)
- Operating System**: Windows 11 / 10 (64-bit)
- SMBIOS Version - 3.5
- Embedded Controller Version - 3.07
I’m facing a recurring issue where my dedicated GPU (dGPU) is not detected in Device Manager or BIOS after a cold boot (from shutdown).
- After a normal shutdown and power-on, the GPU completely disappears, sometimes even from the BIOS hardware list.
- I’ve confirmed this by checking:
- Device Manager → only shows iGPU (Intel UHD) & NVIDIA RTX greyed in hidden devices(Shows code 43 or 45 error alternatively)
- NVIDIA Control Panel → not available, gives “Display not connected to NVIDIA GPU”
- BIOS → no option to select GPU switching or check dGPU status
- Tried degrading the BIS version also
However, when I:
Use AC Power only,
Enter Advanced Startup (recovery or BIOS), or
Perform a warm reboot (Restart instead of Shutdown),
… the GPU appears again and works fine until the next shutdown.
This makes me believe it’s a BIOS-level issue related to power initialization or GPU switching logic.
