I’m trying to update the AHCI module in the FFB BIOS, but the existing one is bigger (32kb) than any available ahci module available for download. Is this going to be a problem?

It is no problem to replace a BIOS module by a smaller sized one, because all these modules are compressed. To keep the total size of the BIOS untouched, the compression rate of the neighborhood modules will be simply adapted.
