Getting multiple errors in Win7 after upgrading intel raid module to 13.5

Hi,

I updated or modded my raid module in bios to the latest 13.5 release and then tried to install the 13.6 rst drivers which failed at first try. Consequently windows update failed multiple times. Trying to run intel inf setup failed with a corrupt drive error. BUT I also have a second partition or disk with Win 8.1 installed and thats been smooth sailing. No errors what so ever. Confused what could be wrong…

Thanks

Which OS was running, where the update failed?
To which SATA mode have you set the Intel SATA Controller?
Has it been the same system (hardware configuration), where the Intel RST driver update succeeded and failed?
An addition of your chipset or the creation of a signature would be fine.

Well it was in Windows 7 64 with the raid controller enabled using the 13.5.xx.xxxx rom and a modified F10 bios release I downloaded from tweaktown modified by stasio for the GA-Z87X-UD5H. So I took his modified bios and updated the raid rom modules only from 13.2 to 13.5. He had a few other upgrades for the vga, marvel, lan controllers etc. These disk io errors didn’t happen in Windows 8.1 for some reason. Anyhow my bios has a dual bios feature and this morning I switched it back to the backup bios and was able to install multiple updates and drivers without errors. Interesting to note that the F10 bios release for my particular board hasnt been posted yet officially from Gigabyte.

Thanks

To find out the reason for your problem it would be interesting to know, with which Intel RAID ROM version you had created the RAID array.
By the way: Did you create a RAID array at all?

The Win 7 OS is actually installed on a single Samsung 830 SSD and my raid array created with 12.6 rom and running a version of rst prior to the 13 series. The array serves as a data array. So the errors were coming from the Samsung drive. Interesting to note over the last couple months I was getting random chkdsk preboot checks on all my drives on the Z87 system pre-mod and also on another Z68 system I have that briefly exhibited the same data errors one day I updated the RST drivers using modded 12.9 intel raid module. In the latter case I solved that machines errors by reinstalling another version of RST. Both machines host multi-boot partitions though of Win 7 64, Win 8.1, and even OSX and seemed worst in one OS vs another. I spent the weekend updating all the raid modules and more on that Z68 machine fresh using the universal 12.9 just in case. As far as my Z87 rig is concerned its the 13.5 module I downloaded from your site that may be at fault. It would be interesting to try inserting that 13.5 back into the previous bios release with just those modded modules to rule out any thing else like the possibility of beta bios problems. Thanks.

What do you mean with "data array"? Is it a RAID1 array?

What lets you think, that the origin of your problem is the single SSD, which is not member of a RAID array? If yes, why did you insert any modded Intel RAID ROM module?

What is the "universal 12.9"?

What lets you think that?

What kind of modded modules do you mean?

Raid 0 two disk ssd array.

Yes.

What lets you think, that the origin of your problem is the single SSD, which is not member of a RAID array?

The OS windows was complaining of io errors on drive c: but I believe my other drive, a single 600gb raptor on a marvel controller, was also a source of failure as when trying to load chipset install software I had downloaded to that drive there would fail.

If yes, why did you insert any modded Intel RAID ROM module?

I’m sorry the only thing modded was the bios file in that newer unadulterated rom modules were inserted such as the 13.5.

What is the "universal 12.9"?
CPL0’s universally trim modified 12.9.0.2006.

What lets you think that?
Not assigning blame or anything but the fact I had io errors after 13.5.0.2164 makes me think theres a compatibility issue maybe. Guessing.

What kind of modded modules do you mean?
I’m sorry I meant the original 13.5.0.2006 untouched version and the efi satadriver counterpart as with a Z87 board I wouldn’t need to mod anything for Trim.

Fernando, Could this have been a Marvel Intel RST conflict?? Did anyone ever fix that issue?

Thanks

No, unless you have inserted a wrong or wrogly modded RAID module into your BIOS.
Questions:
1. About which system with which chipset are you talking (Z87 or X58)?
2. Why did you update the Intel RAID ROM/EFI RaidDriver to v13.5.0.xxxx?
3. What happens/happened, when you system is using the latest original BIOS version?

I went back to the last bios release available for my board thanks to dual bios. Seems to be working now.
Not sure where the guys at Tweaktown got that newer bios release as Gigabyte didn’t officially release that version on their site.

Thanks

Unfortunately you didn’t answer the first 2 questions from my previous post.
This would give us more informations regarding the possible reasons for your problem with the Intel RAID ROM v13.5.
