Gigabyte GA-MA78G-DS3H Rev2.0 - modding results and encountered problems

Hello@all,

I used a modified version of Modfeakz’s Batch Script for his GA-MA790FXT-UD5P (see post) to insert and replace rom modules.
All bios files (build bioses 7z.zip) were flashed with the bios built-in Qflash Utility. When I encountered a boot failure for a BIOS with a modified AHCI / RAID rom, a “clear CMOS” resolved it.
All files needed to reproduce the modded bioses are included in the attached archive ‘GA-MA78G-DS3H Rev2.0 BIOS mod Batch Script.zip’. A spreadsheet (build_info.ods) with a tabular version of the modding results is also attached.

EDIT by Fernando: To shorten the length of the post, I have put the details into a “spoiler”.

@John_Doe_Galt :
Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

Since I don’t have any own experience with modding an Award BIOS of AMD Chipset boards, I cannot help you myself.
Furthermore I am not sure, whether it was a good idea to start a new thread with your problems, because there are only a very few Forum members, who may be able to help you, but exactly these persons may overview your thread title.
That is why I propose to move your post into >this< thread. If you agree, I will do it for you.
Another idea: Address your support request to our Forum member Modfreakz by using the "@Modfreakz " option.

Good luck!
Dieter (alias Fernando)

Thanks Fernando for the warm welcome and the edit.

You have valid point, that this thread might get overlooked and it is in a sense a continuation of the [Guide] Enhanced BIOS Modding of Award BIOSes thread.

I put this thread here because the “GA-MA78G-DS3H” entry from the BIOS modding success/failure overview thread is one of three reported failures. Two of the reported failures were on AMD motherboards with AWARD BIOSes and were due to “checksum error”. I interpret the failures more as a failed modding procedure than a failed mod.
The remarks column for any AMD Chipset SBXX0 motherboard does not mention any symptoms similar to ones that I experienced in my testing. I thought that this was surprising because the unmodded BIOS was the only one without some kind of problem. It contrasts the high success rate of the other reported mods too.

A modification of the your success/failure post for GA-MA78G-DS3H to include a link to the [Guide] Enhanced BIOS Modding of Award BIOSes with these posts appended similar to the “Gigab. GA-880GM-UD2H” entry might be a good solution. I leave it to you to choose which option should be best for the forum.

Hi, sorry but I still not sure what are you trying to say/ask.

Btw. sometimes it helps open the modded bios with modbin6, (do small changes) and re-save the bios.
also awdbedit-1.02 might be interesting for modding!

Hello Modfreakz,

it is like: "The operation was successful, but the patient died."

Could you explain in what way your suggestion of using modbin6 for a cosmetic change and then to resave the bios is helpful to this situation?

Or alternatively:
Is it a proven method?
What could this fix?
