In the vast majority of cases, you do not need an external programmer to make a backup. Intel FPT software tends to work really well. See this page, section “C2. (CS)ME System Tools”. You will most likely need ME 9.1 tools, but if you are unlucky, then ME 6.x. To make a backup from Windows:
- fptw64 -d backup.bin
