Is there any list of working motherboards ? Would it work on h270 asus prime plus ?
Currently there is no list although there does appear to be a lot of problems with ASUS motherboards.
If you have an ASUS ROG motherboard there is little chance that an automated tool will work, each motherboard model requires patching to different areas of the BIOS.
Also, a lot of the ASUS motherboards have additional ICās with specific functions (e.g. TPU, EPU) that require specific ACPI patches that someone needs to map outā¦
I have attempted to mod the 1205 BIOS for the ASUS PRIME B250M-A without success, running into ACPI issues that I canāt resolve, the H270 ASUS Prime Plus is very likely to have the same problems.
The āsimpleā (and often cheap) motherboards seem to have the most success, i.e. the ones that donāt have a complex BIOS and extra features e.g. ASUS Z170-A, ASUS Z170-E.
On HWBot Alex@ro managed to get the ASUS ROG MAXIMUS IX APEX Z270 working with 8600k/8700k with BIOS mod but no HT working.
Later jjxaker got HT working by intergrating parts of the ASUS ROG MAXIMUS X APEX Z370 BIOS for the 1602 BIOS.
So it can be done - it just takes a lot of time and effort.
Is anyone aware if the z270x gaming 7 will run with the 9th gen processors up to a 9900K? I currently run a 6600k and I havenāt bought a 9th gen processor yet, Although thereās no guarantees is the mod find with my board or anyone whoās tried it?
@Xx_Tek_Tip_xX I just modified the F9E BIOS for the Gigabyte Z270X-Gaming 7 and didnāt see any issues, you just have to make sure that you isolate the CPU pads.
My ROG IX Code failed with the automated tool, I modded a Z370 ROG X Code bios and flashed that and it works perfectly no problems at all. I think this is the way it should be done on other ROG IX series.
Deleted.
Hi,
Was wondering if possible to run non coffee lake cpu like a skylake cpu on a newer coffeelake motherboard?
Thanks
were u able to get 6 core working on k4/d3?
having the same problem as PCGH_Torsten. modded 3801 bios for M8HA with revlaayās tool which itself works like a charm - great tool! I get directly error code 00 but without the immediately shut down like PCGH_Torsten. I use a 8700k (shorted and isolated) which works flawless on a modded M9A. I checked the modded 3801 bios with a G3900 which boots without problems. Bios menu shows version 3801. I know thereās a 3801 version for the M8I - would be interesting to know what is the difference in the patching process.
Hellow every oneā¦ My motherboard Gigabyte H110M-S2PV ddr3 -cf Bios downgrade F20f to F20b can i run i3 8100ā¦ anybody confirm me please. i have 2 processor G4560 and i3 8100
VBIOS_and_BSF.7z where I can download it
Hi boys,
Can i run 8700K/8086K or 9700/9700K on Asus Maximus VIII Hero (Z170 Skylake)?
I have 6700K now under Kraken X62.
See above: I got Problems with 9900K on Maximus VIII, Galac with 8700K. Likely that 8086K and the 9700s will stumble over the same hidden trap. Somewhere else I got the tip to disable IME using HAP bit, but I have not looked into this (and will not find the time to do so soon) and consider it unlikely as HAP is supposed to self-deactivate IME after loading while CPU-checks prevent loading in the most early stage.
Ty. So itās best to stay on this 6700K? I have two 1070ās in SLI. And this 6700K can go @1.42v - 4.9. Or there is some upgrade option available without such a risk?
Any update on current status of running 9900k on Asus Z170 boards? At the moment running i5-8600k @ 5ghz on Asus M8F - bios modded with coffeetime and everything is working flawlessly. 8700k would be easy upgrade path but is there any hope for 9700/9900k on z170? What is special about 9gen that simply adding microcode to coffee modded bios is not working?
@LogicusMPS : The only official upgrade would be the 7700K, but the difference is minimal. If you have easy access to an 8000 or 9000 for testing (like me) ā please join my plight. But would not order and pay for one as long as I would not have a proven compatible board or would be planing to buy a Z370/Z390 as back-up. Especially 9900K are foolishly expensieve and can only drop in price, so better leave 'em sitting on the dealers shelf than your own one until a compatible UEFI has been found
@mtothaj : I have not yet heard of a board that has been proven to work with 8000 series and to not work with 9000K. There are simply a lot of boards nobody has tried eitherway and most people who have upgraded successfully to 8700K will not buy a 9900K because the boost is not worth the price. Iirc the popular OC-plattforms Maximus IX Apex and Asrock Z170M OC Formula, which have seen a lot of 8700K use, have by now been proven for 9900K as well (donāt know about Maximus VIII Impact). So it can be done and you can find plenty of CFL guides for either of these. But I have neither MIXA nor a MImp nor mofo MOCF.
Asus Maximus VIII boards have widespread compatibility reports for 8600k / 8700k and unless you want to be a beta tester I would recommend one of these 2 CPUās. I am running 8600k on Maximus VIII Formula - so basically a Hero Alpha + EK waterblock on VRM.
It also run fine in Maximus VIII Impact. Using Coffeetime it is easy to mod the bios and since bioses are socketed on Z170 Maximus boards, writing the mod with CH341A is lot easier than in later boards when bios is soldered.
8700k was running fine on my M8I with same modded bios that mtothaj used on his M8I. But 9900k was not working. With igpu no screen at all and with dedicated gpu it stucks in bootloop at the splash screen.
@mtothaj some quick questions:
Is coffeetime you mentioned the revlaay-tool?
Which bios version has been the base for your M8F-Mod bios? 3801?
Can you upload your M8F-version somewhere? I would like to try it on M8HA
Thanks in advance!
Can someone help me run an i7-8700k on a z170 Asus Maximus VIII Extreme motherboard? The BIOS of my motherboard is this: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGā¦E-ASUS-3801.zip
@galac
Link to Coffeetime: https://yadi.sk/d/i4FE9b-o3apk5b
My M8F bios is based on latest 3801 bios, but there is no point at all to crossflash M8F bios to M8HA when ready made modded bioses are available for download.

@karmona - you can also try the M8E modded bios from there or make your own using COffeetime.
