[Guide] Manual AMI UEFI BIOS Modding

Where exactly do I find the ‘E7883IMS.110’ file?

@ KedarWolf:
Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

Since lordkag has nothing written about such file within his quoted text, I suspect, that this is the name of the BIOS file for your mainboard.
If I am right, you should get it by extracting the content from the BIOS package, which is delivered by the manufacturer of your mainboard/PC.

Good luck!

I’m trying to just update the microcode in the 1801 BIOS of my Rampage V Extreme. I follow all the steps here http://www.overclock.net/t/1577530/guide…he-x99-ami-bios and even run everything as Administrator. When I run UBU and check the microcode is not updated.

I’ve tried both updating the .cap file directly and updating the .bin file found in the UBU folder. Not sure where i’m going wrong.
Can someone help?

I tried flashing an updated .cap file someone else made but it had several different modules changes, not just the microcode and I would get blue screens and random restarts I don’t get with the stock 1801 bios. So I’d like to just try a bios with only the microcode changed.
Can anyone help? I really would like to figure out what I’m doing wrong and update it myself, not just flash one someone makes for me.

Edit: I don’t think I’m doing the procedure itself wrong, I was very careful to follow the steps correctly but possibly it’s a similar issue to the one where the hex editor is needed to modify a few entires of the code.

EDIT by Fernando: Unneeded parts of the quoted text and blank lines removed (to save space)

There is no difference between a .cap and a .bin file, if you just run a matching BIOS modding tool like UBU or UEFITool.

Yeah, I ran the tools, followed that guide, microcode is not updating.

Have you saved the modded BIOS after having updated the CPU Microcode?

Hi all,
I’m searching for a way to overclock my system and to enable raid features. I don’t know if it is possibile with tour tools.
May you help me to unlock hidden settings and overclock?
The CPU is a broadwell. I belive that this is possible to do because I read this news;
http://www.play3r.net/overclock/locked-i…-bclk-mod/

The most recent bios is downloadable from the following link;
http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/N3150-ITX…ad&os=BIOS

Actually I extracted the menu module, but I can’t see anithing related to overclock and nothing related to SATA (very strage)

May you point me in the right direction?
Thanks forma tour help

@ Guz:
Hello Marco,
welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

No, except changing the CPU Microcode these tasks cannot be done by using the "normal" BIOS modding tools like AMI Aptio UEFI MMTool, UEFITool or UBU.

Since the overclocking abilities (except the CPU Microcode) and the RAID support of a mainboard are managed by certain system BIOS modules, you will have to change the hex code of them and this is a very risky task.
That is why I am unsure, whether you will get the requested support here.

I thank you so much.
Thanks for your time

@ phantomEVO:

ASUS provides only the BIOS for this model, not the full SPI region. Specifically AMI Capsule + BIOS region. If you flash this (even if you remove the capsule) to a full SPI chip you will end up with a brick. When you say "dead", do you mean bricked? In that case, what did you do to brick it exactly? Depending on what you did to cause the brick and whether the chip is functional, you may need to first dump the existing chip and then reconstruct a new SPI image which can then be fully flashed back.

In an Asus Z170 Deluxe. Would be possible add MSDM insertioin module?

Thanks

What do you mean with "MSDM insertion module"?
By the way: We do not support SLIC modding.

hi fernando can you help me i would like to add overclock options module to my bios is it possible ?
Thanks

Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

Since I have never tried to modify any Pegatron mainboard BIOS, I don’t know it.
Have you already tried to open the BIOS by using any BIOS tool? If yes, which tool worked?

Regards
Dieter (alias Fernando)

yes i tried to open it with MMTOOL v3.22 and AMI BCP v3.37 works (open the bios file whitout error)
@Fernando
