XMC flash chip update
Finally broad BIOS support for these flash chips are emerging. In the last three days, I have gotten no less than 4(!) different ones up and running on my testbed:
- Machinist X99-U9. Many thanks to @Maurivillas for providing early access, original BIOS + CPU overclocking mod can be downloaded from here
- Huananzhi: X99-F8D PLUS V1.2 ; X99-AD3 V3.0 ; X99-CD4
However, compared with the existing Huananzhi BD4 BIOS from 2023, there are some bigger issues:
- Machinist X99-U9: Boot time becomes ridiculously long when disabling CSM (like when turning on Secure Boot) ; While CPU overclocking from BIOS works after swapping the OcInit PEI module, using UPT for TBU does not work (freezes on boot code 79).
- All Huananzhi: I can not get CPU overclocking working from the BIOS since it is not a 9.x ME, but SPS 3.x. instead. So no point in even trying UPT for TBU.
Hence, for now I will not release anything using these as a basis. I will simply wait for a better BIOS to emerge. With a bit of luck, the Huananzhi BD4 will soon get the same “更新BIOS芯片” treatment…
