[Guide] Remove UEFI Image from NVIDIA vBIOS

Well he tried Quadro P5200 inside three laptops. I guess my BIOS didn’t work. I am assuming Quadro 10 series cards required signed BIOS then.

@ssj92 - Did you send them the BIOS Sylar76 made, and the one I made??

@Lost_N_BIOS No. The vBIOS you guys modded was for a M4000M.

This is a different person, he has Quadro P5200, Pascal based Quadro. He said it didn’t work in three laptops, two of those laptops were previously working with the P5200.

I edited the vBIOS the same way in this thread. I even did a M4000M edit and tested with @Sylar76 vBIOS, and they were identical so I assume I did everything right.

I think the newer Quadro 10 series based cards for mobile may require signed vBIOS. I asked the person if they have non Pascal based cards to test.

@ssj92 - Ohh, sorry for the confusion then Yes, many newer Nvidia are signed , so even with programmer can often = brick.

@Lost_N_BIOS He has 980M to test. Could you check to see if I modded this vBIOS properly? Thanks

@ssj92 - Looks good to me

Hi, I’m looking at rom but “PCIR” is near the top of the file and it doesn’t have FF lines above and I’m afraid to try it myself could you edit this for me? Card RX 470 8gb unfortunately my dell aurora r3 mother board doesn’t support uefi gop.

Hi, I found this thread and thought it might be what I need to repurpose an old Dell T110 II with an E3-1220, would appreciate it if anybody could help me.

I want to run Windows 10 Pro on this machine and the built-in Matrox GPU just isn’t workable. I happen to have a spare GT720 lying around which I tried to use, but when inserted into the PCIe slot both onboard and the dGPU outputs stop giving a signal. I came across this forum and tried to do the suggested vbios mod but there was no change in response after flashing the modified vbios. I’m not sure if I did the mod right and would appreciate it if someone could check my original and modified files, or provide any other tips that might lead to a workable solution for me. Thanks!

Hi,

I was looking to install Quadro P400 into my R210 II for my plex transcoding. I have try multiple times and it seem the size file is different after I fill up the FF to 1900

quadrop400.rom = 265KB
quadrop400_nouefi.rom = 299KB

I can’t send external link. Please add https:// in front.

gofile.io/d/Fh7VXK - original quadroP400.rom

gofile.io/d/1CtVkH - after remove uefi rom

@brothertax I’ve been having a hell of a time trying to get the vBIOS removed and I realized that we have matching device, vendor, etc ids (10DE,1CB3,1028,11BE). Do you by any chance have that vBIOS file still laying around anywere? I tried the link, but it looks like it’s private now.

@theunknown Awesome writeup btw, I think I’m just fat fingering it somehow

Made it public. Try now.

@brothertax Worked like a charm, thanks man

I bought an Asus GT 710 2gb DDR5 for an old computer (board is Asus m4n68t-m le v2) and it doesn’t detect this card. I plugged it on my main PC and it works fine. It seems the old board is not compatible with GPUs having a UEFI image.

I tried to follow the instructions on the 1st page, but the patterns are different on mine. Would anyone be kind enough to remove the UEFI image for me? Thanks.

Here’s the rom file.

I think this is where I should start, but not sure where to end.

Anyone, please?

Hello all I have a PNY Nvidia Quadro P400. I followed the instuctions here and was able to find the area to delete, I think anyway. I had also tried @brothertax 's file but nvflash didn’t like it, something about an exception found nothing changed, windows closed to fast for me to capture it. The total amount I deleted from my file wasn’t 1900 but 10C00. Afterwards nvflash didn’t have any errors and it seemed to flash ok. Currently I have the card in a HP desktop but I am doing this to put it in my Dell R210 ii for plex transcoding. I had checked with GPU-Z and it still said uefi so I thought I might have to reboot. Once I did the pc still booted up but windows is showing the device is disable due to errors. GPU-Z now shows the checkbox is clear for uefi so I’m wondering if this is normal? I dont have the R210 with me at the moment to test, had to bring the P400 into work to do the flashing because I didn’t have another pc/server I could swap it to in order to flash it on windows. Attached is the modded file.
