Help appreciated with X79-DELUXE

Hi, I’m new here, thank you so much for the work you have done to make all this possible.

I have the ASUS X79-DELUXE running the latest BIOS (X79DLX.CAP/v4805).

When I bought this board (used), the first thing I did was to update the BIOS via USB Flashback (4 versions newer), but it failed and resulted in a bricked board and my solution was then to order and install a new BIOS chip.
The chip “came” with the MAC-address 88:88:88:88:87:88 and the 0.13 (1.3) Intel Boot ROM. Since then, a newer BIOS came (with NVMe support) and I updated successfully with EZ-Flash 2. No brick.

Now my motivation is to fix the Intel LAN code, but I would like to get the updated LAN modules first. When I run UBU 1.65 and open the modded file in UEFITool, the Intel LAN code still shows as version 1.3.
I even tried to mod everything and flash it, but the BIOS remains unchanged. I have tried to mod backup.rom from afudos.exe with same result. I know I probably just can insert the LAN module with UEFITool, but I would like to update other modules as well.

Is it a known issue that UBU sometimes cannot update the modues even it says so? Or where do you think it goes wrong? When I reopen the modded file in UBU, it shows as updated.

Just for the record, here is what UBU 1.65 offers me:

@Deluxe :
Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

What is the reason why you want to update the Intel LAN Option ROM module? Do you have any problem with your Intel Ethernet Controller?
By the way:
1. The LAN Option ROM modules of the BIOS will only be loaded and are only necessary for the "Wake-on-LAN" feature. Do you really use the option to start your computer by an Ethernet command?
2. I do not recommend to update the Intel RAID ROM and the Intel EFI "SataDriver" to any v14.x.x.xxxx or v15.x.x.xxxx version (your X79 SATA RAID Controller will not be 100% supported).
3. The ME Analyzer as part of the UBU tool detects the Intel Management Engine Firmware version, which is within the currently opened BIOS file, but does not offer to update it. If you want to update the Intel ME Firmware, you have to use the specific Intel ME Firmware Update tool.

Thanks!

First and foremost I want to fix the MAC-address (88:87…) but I also want to update the LAN modules. My issue (and my question to whether it’s normal), is that the Intel LAN code doesn’t seem to have been updated when opening the modded file afterwards in UEFITool. The bits are exactly the same. In UEFITool NE A40, the hex view confirms that the bits is still v1.3 and not v1.5. I don’t have problems with the Intel controller. It works despite it’s MAC-address.

1. Yes, I really do, I often wake it up from a Asus router.
2. Good to know.
3. I know
