Hello!
First of all, i’m a total newbie in this hardware thingy.
So, I created a BIOS “mod” to change my BIOS boot logo with AMI ChangeLogo tool. Because no one reported any error I ‘carelessly’ created the bios “mod” and then flashed it myself through BIOS menu, the results is now my laptop won’t boot (only the fans and the keyboard backlight turning on). Recently i discovered a website that has a similar problem, it stated that it needs a USB Programmer to recover the laptop.
Nearest local service centre can’t fix it and the official MSI service centre on my country has a bad reputation. Can someone please help me how to fix this stupid mistake that I made?
Thanks for reading!
My laptop model is GL65-9SEK

One of the following SPI is on the motherboard:
Flash chips in VSCC table:
C22018 (Macronix MX25L128)
EF4018 (Winbond W25Q128)
C84018 (GigaDevice GD25x128)
U need to download the bios/ec from MSI: https://www.msi.com/Laptop/support/GL65-…oduct=GL65-9SEK
Intel Bios image: https://download.msi.com/bos_exe/nb/E16U5IMS.102.zip
EC FW: https://download.msi.com/archive/frm_exe/nb/16U5EMS1.100.zip
But this u already know…as Google can find u in several dedicated sites to bios dump…
@MeatWar
Thank you very much for replying and giving me all the links above, I already got the BIOS image.
I have some questions:
1. Can I flash the BIOS chip without removing the laptop’s BIOS/CMOS battery?
2. You gave me the EC firmware link above, what should I do with it? I mean I only know updating it through windows.
Thank you and have a nice day!
One is Intel main bios image and the other is the EC, im sure that u noticed different sizes…, u got the schematics… by ur words in reddit, so go back to drbios and ask them.
Digg more about it has i dont have the mainboard here, or schema to point any more directions, dont give anything has i do not want to analyze anything else, its ur work only.
Ummm… okay? I’m just making sure not to fuck anything up again.
Well, thanks for trying to answer my questions, I’ll try to use my google-fu better next time.
Thanks.
