Hello,
Before I write anything, I think it’s important to mention that I am not a professional in this topic, I barely understand what I am doing, but I have a faulty Asus B150M Pro Gaming motherboard, and I would feel bad throwing it out. However, given its value, it makes no sense to take it to a repair shop, so I have decided to try fixing it myself.
The issue(s) with the board: On startup, I get the “(A7) Me FW Downgrade - Request MeSpilock Failed” error message, and also, its impossible to shut the PC down from Windows, it just makes the screen go dark, but the fans keep spinning, the only way to properly shut the PC down is holding the power button. First I have tried to update the bios version from 0601 to 1006, but the computer freezes as soon as the update starts, and after a few minutes the computer restarts, but it still has the old bios. I have tried clearing the cmos a few times, it doesn’t help either. After some help from AI and reading forums, I now know that this is all because of the Intel ME. I have tried running the MEUpdateTool that is provided on the official support page of the motherboard, but it fails, saying “Please check ME file is correct”, and it creates an error note, with errors 8193 and 8757. I did run the tool as admin, and the MEI driver is fine according to the system.
In conclusion, I think the ME firmware has some issues, and correct me if I’m wrong but the next step should be to replace the ME region in the bios. I have contacted Asus, they cant help, or they are lazy to do so, so now I am relying on your help.
I have found the CSME System tools v11 r46 here on Win-Raid, and downloded them, and I have made some checks with MEInfo and MEManuf, and I have made a bios dump and saved it on a few different drives, but as a new user Win-Raid won’t let me upload them here.
What I am looking for: A matching and working ME region file for my B150M motherboard that I can use to replace the faulty one, and precise instructions on how to replace it using the CSME System Tools I have downloaded, because the AI just keeps telling me to use functions that do not even exist in this version of the flash image tool. Alternatively, if I am wrong and I need to do something else to resolve the issue, then I would really appreciate some advice on what to do.
Thank you so much for any helpful replies in advance,
Beni
