[Help Request] Dell Optiplex 990 modded bios

Hi everyone, is there any way to modify this bios to skipping startup checks? I want to use this motherboard without dell pc case, but after starting it shows many errors. Air sensor error, front panel error etc, but after pressing F1 key it continue and all functions works. Motherboard is brand new.

have you tried to disable the controls from BIOS?

Yes,I hope to solve it all the time
I think it relate to the bios setting which is not shown in the bios

Please show me image of this error, maybe I can help you guys fix? @gloobox @Hai_kkk

When i launch the “bare” mobo(out of the case,no fan no case cable),it will show the pic above

Thanks @gloobox - I think I can remove, do you have flash programmer for testing, in case recovery needed? If so, or not and you want to test anyway, send me FPT dump of BIOS region >> FPTw.exe -bios -d biosreg.bin
You will need to use FPT from ME System Tools V7 package, if you are on BIOS A24

I’ve changed it with 8MB size chip flashed 3010 bios,and so that it could support 32nm and 22nm!!!
I give you the A15 bios dumped by the programmer directly~~haha

Hmm, well @gloobox 3010 BIOS is not 990 BIOS, so not sure if I can edit that one in same manner, I will check and see
Why aren’t you using A19 then?

This bios was dumped by others machine,and I try to update the newest bios A22 but fail
The screen showed preparing to update the bios,and auto restarting.After restarting,it didn’t enter the update program but auto launching the system (certainly need to press F1).(But what I care is it need to press F1 when launch the machine ,update success or not is no matter)

@gloobox I didn’t know A22 was latest, only checked what I had in my storage drive, I wonder why it fails to update for you? Ohh well, at least you can use A15 without problems, hopefully we can fix this issue for you now too. We can program update you to 22 later probably if you wanted?
Here is three BIOS, please test in order M1, M2, MBoth - all may fail to resolve the issue, and all may need programmer recovered, so please be ready to recover. And please test each one, even if first one works, please test them all and let me know outcome/result from each, thanks

@Lost_N_BIOS
Hi, did anything ever come of this? I am having the same issue and would love to test out your files. I do not have any kind of programmer, but I would be willing to test all the files you linked regardless. I may need some guidance though as I am new to this.

@RatchetRussian - NO, do not use any files above, they are programmer dumps thus have other user serial, asset tags, LAN MAC ID etc. @gloobox never replied about this, so I am unsure if anything I done helped him fix the issue.
What is your actual system ID? I thought I could remove for 990, but no one ever replied back about that, so there isn’t even any files here for 990, nor any mods ever done on my end for 990 since no one replied. The files above are for user specific 3010 BIOS only.

Also, it’s best you order a programmer now, it costs less than $7 total shipped for both items you need. Better to order now and wait for the long delivery, than have to order later and wait for the long delivery without a running system.
You need CH341A + SOIC8 test clip w/ cable. They are not required, but are suggested in case anything I send you bricks the BIOS, this is not a normal BIOS mod, so things can go wrong easily.

Thank you for your reply! Here is the service tag: https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/…cq0ms1/overview

edit: I just purchased the two items you specified from a local distributor so I should have them within a week. I’m very much looking forward to trying out anything you send my way!

Let me know if you need any more information regarding the model of my computer if the service tag doesn’t provide enough details.

@Lost_N_BIOS

@RatchetRussian - I just needed to know what system you had, but thanks, so 990 for sure.
Yes, I looked at the 990 BIOS before, initially in this thread, and I think I can bypass that for you, but best to have programmer and backup checked and confirmed OK before I send you anything to test.

@Lost_N_BIOS

I received the 2 items today and am excited to proceed with testing anything you might send my way!

You mentioned making a backup, is this something I would use the chip flasher for, or is this done via software?

I am new to all of this, but I did some reading and came across this guide you had a part in: https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-G…341A-programmer
I will follow this if necessary but any advice that’s not included in the guide would be welcome.

@Lost_N_BIOS
I made a big discovery of Optiplex 990.
I had upgraded the latest bios released in 2018.There is no need to dump or flash by SPI programmer.You just need to short the Service Mode jumper,then you could dump the full bios and flash the modded bios directly by FPT.
But It’s a little regrettable.I added the nvme module in this mobo,but there was no “pata” or “windows boot manager” could show when plugged in the NVME SSD which has been setuped win10.

@RatchetRussian - sorry I missed your post until now! What do you want to do?

Did you guys ever get this sorted? Is it possible to enable csm/uefi or to upgrade the version of UEFI? I cannot install CloverUEFI in UEFI mode!

Hi guys,

Is there any A24 bios modification for the optiplex 990, I bought a disk with nvme adapter and I would like to be able to use it for the operating system.

I can even offer a reward for the solution.
