HELP,what's multiple (2) intel flash descriptors?

when i Clean Dumped SPI/BIOS chip firmware ,the ME Analyzer show this .This firmware was 16MB when I dump it from SPI using CH341A. I ignored this and continued to clean ME step by step in the tutorial, the firmware became 8MB after complete
. What should I do next? Can I use this 8MB .bin file?
thanks.

BIOS??.JPG

@jason05 - Bad mod = bad mod Don’t use that

Upload your dumped BIOS so I can check it for you. Also, please link to the stock BIOS for this system, or include it (if it’s EXE include that, don’t extract it), this way I have something to compare with.
This possibly happened due to badly coded FD from manufacturer, then ME tool used that info and rebuilt BIOS, but I can’t say for sure until I do the ME FW update myself and see what happens.

What system is this? Is there two BIOS chips, or only one?

@Lost_N_BIOS this firmware is dumped form computer asus UX305FA , only one bios chip ,i don’t know why it is 16 MB. i attach the dumped file and The official bios.exe

305FA.bin is dumped from the SPI chip. the chip is W25Q64FV

thanks

Thanks for model. Maybe you set 16MB (or left default of 16MB set), or used some ID with 128 in name when dumping by accident?
I checked your dump, and probably the reason for 16MB dump is one of the last few things mentioned above. That 16MB Dump is FD/ME + BIOS region + 8MB of empty padding at end, so this is reason, one of the things I mentioned
Your 8MB ME FW mod BIOS may be fine, but see info below - I’d redo due to different ID should be used to dump/write!

Yes, W25Q64FV is 8MB chip. You need to use software version 1.30 or 1.34 to read/write to this chip, and for proper write you need to use W25Q64BV ID or writes will fail
1.30 and 1.34 included in this package - http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?fil…695330485827902

Please make a new dump, just to be sure it’s OK, using 1.30 or 1.34 from above and W25Q64BV ID and then using all this info redo your edit, and write will be success after you update the ME FW

@Lost_N_BIOS OK, i will try it later

@Lost_N_BIOS OK uploaded…i found that this is a little different from the last upload, because of I used version 1.34 of the software?

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/adv34qj9c26bt…pr52bX-jYa?dl=0

Did you use 1.34 and BIOS ID W25Q64BV? If not, do it again, I have not downloaded file yet.
All dumps you make will not match in hex, unless you do several in a row with system off, due to checksums, time/date stamps change etc

Once I have your file, are you wanting me to do the ME FW update, or just check your dump is OK (best I can tell)?

yes,i use 1.34 . I just dump this file 305FA_read_with_134.bin today. update the ME FW please . Although I have made one follow the tutorial, I was worried there’s something wrong with it.

thx

@jason05 - I wasn’t concerned if you used 1.34 (1.30 OK too), I was mainly concerned if you use W25Q64BV ID, this is required to write, so best to dump it that way too. Once you do that I will update ME FW for you

@Lost_N_BIOS OK sorry ,It’s not the same as the computer schematic .actually it’s GIGADEVICE GD25Q64 . i dumped from GIGADEVICE GD25Q64.

Ohh OK, I only said that about BV becuse you mentioned W25Q64FV at post #3. Look at the chip, use flashlight and magnifying glass if you need to, can’t always rely on “detect chip” function.
We need to be sure, so best to look at chip yourself.

If it’s the one you said above just now, OK, nothing different needed, use that ID. And I will grab that BIOS dump you posted and update ME FW for you
Please upload to tinyupload.com, I can’t download from dropbox all week long, thank you.

Lost_N_BIOS thanks!! But please help me see what the problem is again
help!chip main memory with the contents are in disagreement!

I didn’t notice any issue?? And, I already replied in that other thread before you posted the above reply?
