Just wanted to share with you guys my experience with Asus tech support regarding how I got them to commit to releasing a new bios update. Basically I have an Asus Z170-WS and I noticed that almost all the other mainstream Asus Z170 boards just recently as of two weeks got bios updates. So I replied back using an email I had received from Asus tech support over an unrelated issue asking if I was going to get a bios update. They responded flat out stating I was not going to get one for some stupid reason. So I then replied that I am concerned about Meltdown/Spectre security issue and if they’re not going to fix it give me a new board. Next thing I know I get an email that I’ll have an updated bios in a few days!
I didnt tell them that I as a proud Win-Raider modded my bios myself but that wasnt the point. Hoping their new bios fixes my other bios issues in anycase!
Thanks for reading…
Very good !
I hope they wont forget the Z97K MOBOs also !!
Last update is from 2016 …………
I think the support could be much better from ASUS !!
Point is you have to play hardball with the manufacturer if you want to get anything updated. I hope they fix this bug they have where the video posts to the second gpu as opposed to the first!
To update this thread. Asus finally released a new updated official non-beta bios for the Z170-WS with updated microcodes BUT I probably will not use it as my own updated homemade bios is so much more newer and updated in terms of the Raid rom, VBios, Lan and more in respect to each module in the rom. Thanks Asus my hats off to you but going to pass!
I’m currently going through the same thing with my x79 Deluxe. They finally escalated the issue after quite a few emails, but still no guarantees.
It really doesn’t seem like it should be that difficult to implement. I think Intel should really be covering the costs for these manufacturer’s to update the bios on boards going back to Bloomfield.
Just raise hell. Good luck.
