@plexpc :
Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum!
What about inserting the NVMe module into the latest BIOS version and to flash that one?
Good luck!
Dieter (alias Fernando)
@OzzyFox :
Your issue seems to be BIOS or Intel ME Region related and probably cannot be solved by a BIOS modification done by anyone among our BIOS modding Gurus.
My advice: Contact the ASUS Technical Support, write about your issue and ask for a solution. It may be a good idea not to mention, that the BIOS has been modified.
@Fernando :
That doesnāt make any sense to me, nor does it address my issue. I was successfully able to modify the BIOS in this tutorial, but my motherboard does not allow you to override the current BIOS version with the same BIOS version, there are no newer versions of the BIOS available. It gives me a āSecurity Verification Failedā error when I try to update just the BIOS. NVME has nothing to do with the BIOS being flashed.
@plexpc :
Ok, I misunderstood your previous post - forget my advice.
It should be possible to flash a BIOS with the same version number, but with different modules in it.
You probably have to use another flashing tool.
Hello, I have a PM981a 512GB M2 SSD for my Z77X UD5H using BIOS F16j. The bios itself can recognise my ssd in full name and after loading into Windows 10 installer(UEFI/legacy), the installer shows it is only 0MB. Can anyone help me? Thank you very much
PS It shows up on Windows System but I cannot initialised it. NVME controller also shows up on device manager, so Iām wondering what is the problem
It worked also for my system:
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-F2A88XM-D3H
BIOS: AMI UEFI BIOS
CodeRushās UEFITool: UEFI Tool (link is in the first post)
NVME DXE: NvmExpressDxe_4.ffs
iām a bios modding newbee but the guide was very clear. After i flashed the bios i removed all other harddrives and installed W10 on my m.2 Intel p660 ssd. I have a QNINE PCIe adapter in the upper PCIe 16x slot.
Thanks for the guide!!!
Hello all,
Iām trying tu add nvme support on my Gigabyte Z87M-D3H with no success,
I have download the last F11 bios an added the NvmExpressDxe_Small.ffs but the hard drive is not recognized under unraid
I wanted to try an older version of the bios but once in the bios it is not possible to flash an F11 bios with an older F10 biosā¦
SATA mode selection is in AHCI and Iāve cheched the modified bios, it contains well the NvmExpressDxe_Small line.
Anyone got a F11 modified bios for Z87M-D3H ?
Thanks !

Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum!
What means, that the hard drive isnāt recognized? Do you see a device named "PATA" or PATA SS:" within the BOOT section of the BIOS?
If not, is the NVMe SSD properly connected via M.2>PCIe adapter with a suitable PCIe slot?
If you are unsure regarding the result of your BIOS modification, please attach the original and your modded BIOS as *.ZIP archive. Then we will do a look into them both.
Do you really believe, that such person will find and read your post on page 356 of this voluminous thread?
By the way: The Forum member Schots has the same mainboard as you and succeeded with the BIOS F10 (look >here<). The BIOS modification will work with the BIOS F11 as well.
Good luck!

@Fernando :
Yes thanks
I found it but the bios does not want of an older version
EDIT by Fernando: Unneeded fully quoted post replaced by directly addressing to the author (to save space)
Effectively, no hard drive in the boot section (the system does not have any drives excepted the unraid usb key and the m2 pcie card)
And the hard drive is mounted on a asus adapter m2 to pcie 4x on the pcie4x slot of the motherboard.
Iāve put the modified bios in attached files
biosf11modified3.zip (5.77 MB)
Sorry Iāve seen the bios was not attached, I have edited to add
@DocGloumy :
Your modded BIOS looks to be ok.
Questions:
1. Which name did you give your modded BIOS?
2. How did you flash it (from within the OS or from within the BIOS)?
3. Which flashing tool did you use?
4. What makes you sure, that the BIOS has been successfully flashed?
@Fernando :
1. I give the same name of the original bios "Z87MD3H.F11"
2./3. I flash it with QRUN directly into the bios
4. the pc restart automatically after the flash process, I have just seen the version of my bios was passed from F9 to F11
To be sure I have also test with another car and m2 drive
Thanks for help Fernando
@DocGloumy :
Thanks for your answers.
Additional question:
Which BIOS settings have you chosen within the BIOS regarding CSM, "Secure Boot", "Fast Boot" and the support of Legacy/UEFI Option ROM modules?
I found a bit time to try it, but without any good results:
| AMI Firmware Update Utility v3.04.03 |
| Copyright (C)2012 American Megatrends Inc. All Rights Reserved. |
Ā±--------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Reading flash ā¦ done
Secure Flash enabled, recalculate ROM size with signatureā¦
- FFS checksums ā¦ ok
4 - Error: ROM file ROMID is not compatible with existing BIOS ROMID.
Windows 10 in AHCI mode on machine.
Any idea?
EDIT by Fernando: Unneeded parts of the quoted posts removed, AFUWIN protocol put into a "spoiler" (to save space) and post re-formatted for better readability/understanding
@Fernando :
CSM, >CSM support : Always
"Secure Boot" > Enabled, I try with disabled but same
Secure Boot mod : Standard
"Fast Boot" > Itās disabled
support of Legacy/UEFI :
- Boot mode selection : UEFI and Legacy
- Storage boot option Control : UEFI First
- Other PCI Deviace ROM Priority : UEFI OpROM
@Dabman :
The AFUWin protocol verifies, that you cannot get a modded BIOS successfully flashed by using the AMI AFUWin tool.
Please look into the start post of >this< thread for a better flashing method and ask there for help.
@Dabman :
If you want to get an NVMe SSD bootable, you have to set the āSecure Bootā BIOS setting to āDISABLEDā.
By the way: Attached is the F11 BIOS for your mainbord, where I have integrated the complete NvmExpressDxe_4 module. Feel free to flash it at own risk. Maybe it will help to solve your problem.

Thanks Iām trying
Ahoy, is there a way to pay someone to perform this changes?
I got a Supermicro X10SRL-F and would like to add support for NVMe SSDs to be able to boot from them, using PCIe x4 ā M.2 Adapter card.
