@d0e :
Thanks for your feedback!
I am glad, that you finally succeeded.
Enjoy your Toshiba XG3 SSD as your bootable system drive!

@Fernando
Thank you, is it alright if I upload my edited BIOS to the OCN thread I made? I would be doing it just to help out anyone with the exact same situation as me - unable to use an NVMe drive with the Impact VII.
Iāll be posting instructions on where to go to do it yourself regardless.
No problem from my side.
That would be fine.
which module i can delete from asus sabertooth P67 bios?

Stiv and Jaaa,
I studied your bios file last night and the one file i wanted to compress was already compressed and theres like 6kb of free space left and not enough to insert the module. Its going to take time to research the other non essental modules and compress them or remove them. This cant be rushed but the community has got your backā¦
I dont need raidā¦only ahciā¦ which module is raidā¦which i can delete?
The EFI RAID module is named either "SataDriver" or "RaidDriver", but I cannot find it on your screenshots.
The other Intel RAID module (=LEGACY RAID ROM) is within the CSMCORE file, but I doubt, that its removal will give you more space for any additional EFI module.
I found in CSMCORE file and deleted RAID moduleā¦and I was able insert NVMeExpressDxE.ffs and install windows 10 in eufi on samsung SM951 m.2 ssd.
attached is sabertooth P67 bios modified,updated with ubu and NVMe supportā¦but deleted RAID.
Hey,
iĀ“m using an Intel MoBo DX79TO and i know thats impossible to add the required nvme-modules to the biosā¦butā¦with which bootloader I can load the NVME driver at Startup so my Windows starts directly from the nvme-ssd?? Clover? Any other idea? thx!
I had to register here just to say thank you for such an awesome guide. The procedure is so relatively straightforward, I donāt know why more mfgās arenāt adding NVME to their boards.
In my case, I added the NVME oprom to a Gigabyte GA-7PESH2 and have it successfully booting Windows 10 from an intel 400GB PCIE NVME drive.
This board is Intel C602 based, running (2) Xeon CPU E5-2670 (8-Core) processors, and 64GB ram, and in with the SSD, I am getting ~30sec boot times. Still not bad for a server board!
Further tweaking could shave even more boot time off.
How do I check these settings?
I think that the problem is here.
my bios settings are not visible from these settings.
Maximum Payload:
Set maximum payload of PCI Express device or
allow system BIOS to select the value automatically.
Maximum Read Request:
Set maximum read request size of PCI Express device or
allow system BIOS to select the value automatically.
Can I edit something module? e.g? "DellPcieBaseConfigDxe" size about 3k.
Problem is "4k Q32T1" speed.
my machine:
Dell T5600 2x Xeon E5-2680,
64GB quad-channel, Samsung SM961 NvME 256gb,
EDIT by Fernando: Inserted screenshots reconfigurated (to save space)
@tojoski :
Welcome at Win-RAID Forum and thanks for your feedback!
I am glad,that you got the NVMe SSD working with your Intel C600 Series chipset system.
Enjoy it!
Regards
Dieter (alias Fernando)
@Juha :
The tropic of this thread is about how to get an NVMe SSD working with an old Chipset system, but not about how to get the desired performance while using it.
Since your problem has nothing to do with the topic of this thread, you should better post your SSD performance problems into >this< Sub-Forum.
Hello!
Is it possible to use this guide with a ASUS Zenbook UX31A Ultrabook?
The latest BIOS is UX31AAS.219 and I modded it as described, but when I try to flash it in UEFI it says: BIOS is older than the existing ?!?
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance!
AJ
@schlontz_555 :
Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!
Probably it will not work, because you may not get a modded BIOS flashed into a Mobile system.
The guide of the start post has been designed for Desktop systems.
You will need the ASUS USB Flashback feature, but I doubt, that this is available for any ASUS notebook.
Regards
Dieter (alias Fernando)
Hello Fernando!
Thx for the answer!
This Ultrabook uses a non-standard SSD. I must use an adapter to use a standard m.2-one. Then it will be the question, if it is worth to pay more for such a high-speed SSD or simply use a 850 EVO.
This one worksā¦
Without NVMe-Support a SSD such as Samsung SSD 950 Pro will not work? Or it is only a driver, I read about?
Thx!
AJ
It will work, if your OS has natively or got a suitable NVMNe driver, but you will not be able to boot off the NVMe SSD, unless the required NVMe module is within the mainboard BIOS.
OK, when this SSD 950 is the only one in this Ultrabook, so it will not work
Thx Fernando!
Hi, How did you flash? Did you use Fernandoās manual for flashback? Did you flashback bios file with .CAP? I am asking because my Asus V Gene doesnāt want flashback any bioses, even if I do not change/modify the bios file.
Hi, How did you flash? Did you use Fernandoās manual for flashback? Did you flashback bios file with .CAP? I am asking because my Asus V Gene doesnāt want flashback any bioses, even if I do not change/modify the bios file.
EDIT by Fernando: Customized the quoting code to make clear, to whom you addressed your question.
Before you are going to use ASUSās USB Flashback feature, you have to rename the modded BIOS file name according ASUSās USB Flashback rules, but the suffix of the modded BIOS file should be "*.CAP". Otherwise the flashing of the modded BIOS file will not work.
