HP 290 G2 MT bios update fail

Hi,
tried upgrading bios to latest version (F.54 Rev.A) via windows. Once computer rebooted, I started getting the error which is shown on the first image attached.

Created bios recovery USB stick on Windows via the menu provided by the same exe as the bios update, but no luck. Get the message, computer restarts and the screen stays blank. If I leave no usb stick inserted after showing the initial error it restarts and shows error shown on the second image attached.

What was the current bios version on the system before the F.54?
Try lower versions of the recovery method with the same or older bios, not latest.
Read also this for a similar recovery on a 280 G2 MT using Boot Block jumper
Last resource… an SPI IC programmer.
Good luck.

I tried, but not much luck so far in the quoted procedure.

I may have a hardware programmer (ch341a style) which could suit the purpose,
where would I start? and/or where would I get the firmware? how do I retain windows activation?

I’ve saved the bios with programmer, what’s my next step?

Getting it fixed or getting a new image for flashing… or do you expect that it drops out from heaven?
Do you know what you did? Do you know what ICs to dump? Is it double-checked the readings done and its content data?
What HP recover method did you perform? What did fail in your HP method attempts?
What’s it this method?

All sorted, thanks. Flashed empty hp bios back via programmer, re-entered feature bytes and build id via bios, all seems good so far. Appreciate your help.

So I used clean bios from here , and entered feature bytes manually, but can’t succeed in windows activation, also /sys/firmware/acpi/tables/MSDM seems to be missing.
I could probably reflash via ch341a old bios , if it was fixed first.

Attach your dump here.

It worked, thank you.
Bios language changed to German, I used BCU to set back English language in bios.
Could you remove the bios file?
