Good morning, I have a sort of doubt, I have already posted this at TechInferno but nobody could help me, and I think there are more BIOS gurus around here than at tech inferno.
So before anything, thanks in advance for your patience.
I have an old Asus N53SM, I have upgrade the CPU to an i7-2760QM and by Intel specs it should be able to run the RAM at 1800Mhz.
I have already unlocked my BIOS, upgraded my CPU microcode to the latest version and upgrade the Intel ME firmware to version 7.1.52.1180, I think there is an even newer ME driver in this forum, but I dont think my problem is due to the ME version.
Here is a couple of screen shots from my BIOS RAM settings:
Any setting that I put in the Memory Frequency is ignored, I think the limitation is in the Memory RC Version, or maybe some configuration bit in the ME Firmware is locking this to work.
I’m currently using 4x4GB RAM’s all support DDR3-PC12600 so they should do 1600Mhz with no problems.
They all have the same JEDEC/SPD values:
JEDEC timings table CL-tRCD-tRP-tRAS-tRC @ frequency
JEDEC #1 5.0-5-5-14-19 @ 380 MHz
JEDEC #2 6.0-6-6-16-22 @ 457 MHz
JEDEC #3 7.0-7-7-19-26 @ 533 MHz
JEDEC #4 8.0-8-8-22-30 @ 609 MHz
JEDEC #5 9.0-9-9-24-33 @ 685 MHz
JEDEC #6 10.0-10-10-27-37 @ 761 MHz
JEDEC #7 11.0-11-11-28-39 @ 800 MHz
Any ideas if this is possible to do?
I can attach my current working BIOS dump and also a full stock Asus BIOS from the Asus G74S that uses the same chipset that as no problem running RAM’s at 1600Mhz, maybe there is some way to grab the Memory RC from the G74S and put it into my RAM?
This is more of a want to do, not a need, kind of curiosity.
Best regards and thanks for your time.
