with all Intel RST(e) drivers versions newer than 4.3.2.1002 the IAStorIcon.exe does no longer start on our systems. Tested with Windows 10 Build 10.586 and Server 2012 R2 on various Asus motherboards with X99/C612 chipsets. Anyone there to confirm this? Can this problem be solved? As a workaround I disabled the IAStorIcon autostart.
Here are the specific Windows error logs:

I also had an error at startup (Win10 x64 1607 + C600/X79 + Win-Raid “Intel RSTe Drivers & Software Set v4.5.6.1007”) and think I could reproduce it “offline” (win7 SP1 x64) by executing ‘iastoricon.exe’ of extracted package Complete Intel RSTe AHCI/RAID Drivers & Software Set v4.5.6.1007 for Win7-10 provided here at Win-raid.

According to crash dump info the issue is a ‘System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException’ with message ‘Text length must be less than 64 characters long.’ related to “System_Windows_Forms_ni!System.Windows.Forms.NotifyIcon.set_Text(System.String)” [–> Maybe systray/tooltip message at systray icon should be shown which exceeds 64 characters limit ???]:

Will check… but nevertheless I would expect that the uninstalling of previous sw version is done by the newer package or at least a helpful message regarding "previous version detected" is shown if it is a known "must be done step". At least that is what I would expect from "customer oriented" software developers (and such a company like INTEL)
The problem is, that residues of a previously not correctly uninstalled Intel RST/RSTe software with another version number may still be present within the registry and interfere with the currently installed software.
Sorry to hijack this thread… Any idea what is the best modded driver for P500? Im currently using this 4.3.2.1002 but i cant find any latest than that from official intel website… When running on SSD benchmark, it perform quite badly.
Since I don’t know an Intel chipset named P500, I cannot answer your question. You should check the chipset resp. Southbridge of your system and then look into the start post of >this< thread. I bet, that your question has been already answered there.
Do you want the latest or the best driver? Newer is not always better, especially not for older hardware configurations.

Apologized for the confusion. I got a Lenovo P500 with Intel® C612 Chipset… I have 2 AHCI controller currently on my windows 10 workstation:
1) Intel C600+/C220+ series chipset SATA AHCI controller 2) Intel C600+/C220+ series chipset sSATA AHCI Controller
Both are on 4.3.0.1198 driver. I will like to know what is current optimized driver for this C612 chipset?
