For the past few days, I’ve been trying to get vista installed onto my system, but I’ve been unable to get it working. It is so unstable that I get bluescreens such as BAD_POOL_HEADER, BAD_POOL_CALLER, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, and more.
My relevant system specs are:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X (I’ve tested with one CCX disabled, I’ve also tested with PBO and core performance boost disabled, and even tried underclocking it)
Mainboard: MSI X470 Gaming Pro Carbon
RAM: 2x16GB OLOy 3200MHz RAM + 2x8GB Corsair 3200MHz RAM (I’ve also tested with only the Corsair RAM, running the RAM at full auto in BIOS)
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 970
Drives: Pioneer APS-SE20G-1T (NVMe, and there aren’t really any drivers for it, but I’m ok with that), Samsung 860 EVO 500GB (I’ve tried installing to this disk, and same issues), Silicon Power S60 512GB (Main disk I’m trying to install to), 3TB Toshiba HDD, 4TB Seagate HDD (Both HDD’s are in RAID 1, with the extra 1TB from the 4TB as a separate partition. This RAID 1 means they’re dynamic disks, and I haven’t imported them into Vista)
PSU: Rosewill Hive 750w
The issue in detail:
I sometimes get random BSODs during boot, sometimes even just seconds after it begins booting. I also get sometimes BSOD when logging in, and during general use, and sometimes after telling Windows Vista to reboot/shut down. Vista eventually bluescreens in one way or another.
Other information relating to the issue:
I’ve tried many things, installing from a DVD, downgrading BIOS, playing around with BIOS settings, trying different drivers and driver combinations, and more.
I asked on the MSFN forums, and discovered that someone had the same issue, and fixed it by going to Server 2008, so I tried Server 2008, and it worked, but I soon discovered some programs that I need don’t work on Server 2008, and I prefer having true Vista, so back to Vista I went.
Vista was having issues, so I compared some stock Vista files with those from Server 2008, and found, they’re pretty much the same.
There were some different driver files between Server 2008 and Vista, so I swapped over the 2008 drivers, and experienced an issue where Vista would randomly act like I unplugged the SSD it’s on.
So I reinstalled Server 2008 to get more files from Server 2008, and experienced the same issues that I had in Vista, but now in Server 2008
I tried a few more things, and an almost up to date ISO, but nothing has worked

It would be cool to make clear breakdown list of 100% compatible mobos for win7 x64. And not all these scattered information bits here and there…
