IME 9.0.31.1487 on ASRock H87Pro4

Hi everyone.

I wanted to update my IME FW. But i am not sure about a few things:

I just installed a fresh Win 8.1 (with update) X64 on that ASRock H87Pro4.
I uploaded an image and as you can see:
FW Version is: 9.0.30.1482
SW: i installed latest i could find: 10.0.30.1054

Questions:
1.) Latest FW is IME 9.0.31.1487, right?
2.) i HAVE TO use 5MB (Business) Images? or 1.5 MB?
3.) can i use the latest drivers or should i get back to older version (because of my chipset and FW)?
4.) UEFI Installation of windows 8.1 x64 => update only in DOS mode (like USB freedos boot and update)?

Thanks for any help.

PS: found the changelog (attached too) of the 9.0.31.1487 FW and it is mentioned:
- Added support for Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-bit.

So the FW i already have, does not support the OS i already have installed?!?

Changelog.txt (829 Bytes)

Should be the 1.5MB image, me drivers should be 10.0.30.1054

1.) but why does it say "small business technology"?
This guy (IME Update failed) has same board only with H97 (not H87 like me). he had to use 5mb…

2.) Updating in WIN8.1 x64 possible (I have UEFI isntallation).

3.) any ideas on the changelog? it is kinda weird (concerning win 8.1 x64 support)

thx again

H97 is the 9 Series platform, so the me firmare is 9.1, H87 is 8 series desktop chipsets, so management engine firmware is 9.0, and the 8 series mobile chipset is 9.5

Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

Yes!

Corrected answer: You obviously have to use the 5M variant, since you have a "Small Business" system.

The latest Intel ME drivers v10.0.30.1054 are the best for your system.

I recommend to download the Intel ME9.0 FWUpdate Tool v9.0.22.1467 and to use the Local-Win64 subfolder.

It may not fully support all the OS features. That is why it is a good idea to update the Intel ME Firmware to the latest (actually: v9.0.31.1487).

Happy New Year!
Fernando

Thank you Fernando. Answered all my questions.
I’m on it

PS: used your modded INTEL AHCI drivers in the past. Thx for that too
And happy new year @ everyone

when I save my old FW i get a file which is 3,88MB.
So do i need the 5MB one?

When i read this (IME Update failed) i get the impression i have to take the 5MB (he has the H97 Pro4, i have the H87 Pro4).
And MEInfoWin gives me: “small business technology”.

So the 5MB then?
--------------------------
Just used the 5MB (since i git invalid file error). Worked
restarting now

EDIT by Fernando: Quoted text deleted (to save space and to avoid misunderstandings by future visitors of the Forum, because my answer regarding the suitable Intel ME Firmware 1.5MB/5M variant was wrong)

Yes, my first answer regarding this point was wrong. I am sorry about that and happy, that you found the correct Intel ME Firmware variant yourself.

Congratulations!

Good, everything mentioned above is correct. Don’t forget to check after the update that everything is working great by running MEInfo (should not report any errors) and MEManuf (should report “MEManuf Operation Passed”).

This operating system “compatibility” is not really important, you wouldn’t be facing any problems either way.
