Hi everybody,
I’m need to change a small server here and I’m planning to buy a MB Asus Z87 PRO.
On this board, I will install Win 2008R2 x64 with 2 HDD in RAID 1.
I know that intel don’t provide server drivers for “public” boards, so for the network card, I will have to change the .inf to be able to install it.
But, regarding the RAID, is it the same ?
When searching on the web, I found user having problems installing 2008R2 when the RAID is activated seems Win setup didn’t find HDDs (no drives found).
Is there a way to include the intel drivers on a Win 2008 R2 (I found guides for Win7/8 but nothing for 2008).
Many thank for your help
Stéphane
Hello and welcome to the Win-RAID fForum!
There is no need to integrate the Intel RST drivers, here is a >link< to the donwload page of version 13.6.0.1002.
Intel states that they are installable on Windows 7/8/8.1 and Windows Server 2008R2/2012/2012R2.
Just download the 64bit floppy package (f6flp-x64.zip), extract it on an USB flash drive and select the driver during Windows installation.
Regarding the ethernet drivers, I would extract them via 7-zip and try to install them without modifications (via device manager).
Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008R2 share the same kernel code, they even have the same OS version (6.1 Build 6701 Service Pack 1 or 6.1 Build 6700 without SP1).
So in theory they should work out of the box. If this fails, you can mod them to your needs.
Best regards,
