Intel, AMD, VIA & Freescale CPU Microcode Repositories Discussion

@plutomaniac Thanks for the updates, you are a real hero!

I tested F0 Since you have uploaded it and no issues so far, no new instructions although it is much bigger than older releases.

Intel released a new advisor for the its CPUs, I wounder if the update is just to patch these new vulnerabilities!

Also Intel updated its table for the affected CPUs with a new tab for the year 2022! (Stilll the Microcode EC in the table)

@plutomaniac

Anxiously waiting for you to update MC Extractor with the latest AMD microcode.

I believe one of them is for first-generation 5000 series AMD CPUs.

I want to update my BIOS with it and test it, but just copying and pasting them into the UBU Tool AMD microcodes folder and deleting the old ones not working.

I think the fix is an updated MC Extractor, but I’m not 100% sure. :confused:

Might be a bit off topic, but would updating to the new microcode brick my BIOS, or is there a guide to do it manually. I tried Google search and Winraid search found nothing that worked. :frowning:

@KedarWolf Throw the new microcodes on MCE.exe, type -add in the options field, that should update the database?

@lfb6

I think I need a guide to manually update the microcode. I added it to the mc extractor database but ubu tool doesn’t recognize it or update it. :frowning:

Worked here, but that’s not adding, just updating? (And don’t know if bios works
)

00A00XXX and 00830XXX are Threadripper’s CPUID.
Not Ryzen 5000 serise.

Nothing new in Build 22598, but strangely Microsoft is using the old MC DE, any idea why?

@KedarWolf
Which motherboard and which CPU?

@WetU
Ryzen 5xxx, and Threadripper Pro 5xxx. Both are 5000 series. :slight_smile:

@westlake

I thought they were Ryzen microcodes. They’re not. :frowning:

At AMD, it’s not the microcode that counts, like Intel, but the version of AGESA in the BIOS. This is not changeable (as far as I know), so it’s worth using the latest BIOSes.

@westlake With the newer AGESAs AMD has limited VID to around 1.4v if you use an EDC above 140W. The last Agesa that doesn’t do this is 1203c, the BIOS I’m using.

Someone posted in a Discord that the newest 1206c they are getting the full 1.5v VID, but I couldn’t find the message to ask if their EDC was above 140W. Someone told me VID is still limited on the newest BIOS.

I’m going to test it though when some peeps on Discord unlock the CBS and PBS menus for that BIOS for my board.
