Intel Chipset Device "Drivers" (= INF files)

None of my Intel 10.1.1.38 drivers ( Oct.2016) updated to this 10.1.2.84-version !
Reason ; again this driver-date ??

The 10.1.2 are more for the server and X99

@all:
If there should be an interest, I would create a new mod+signed "All-In-One" package, which contains all the latest Intel Chipset INF files v10.1.1.42 resp. 10.1.2.84 for a manual installation. Contrary to the original Intel package the INF files would be correctly dated.
To get these latest INF files installed, you would need - if not already done - to import the Win-RAID CA Certificate and maybe to force the installation by using the "Have Disk" option.
What is your opinion?

It is really a good idea but I integrate the drivers to ISO, it will not work for me

I am not sure about that. My mod+signed NVIDIA nForce RAID drivers have been accepted even by Win10 v1607 (look >here<). Pre-condition is, that the ISO doesn’t contain any in-box INF file, which supports the related device.

I had tried once (if I am not mistaken) to integrate drivers not digitally signed (driver beta) and at installation, the drivers were not installed
To be tested perhaps

For Intel drivers, Windows does not have native drivers for X99 devices

Intel Chipset Device Software v10.1.1.42 from Station-Drivers

Extracted and verified working on Z97 by me. Driver version displayed as 10.1.1.42 in Device Manager on W7, but driver date is 1/1/1970. Wat

@Fernando
that would be a great idea :slight_smile: as I am currently struggling to get the drivers updates from 10.1.1.18 to latest 10.1.1.42…
I tried from Device manager and have disk… method but does not seem to work

EDIT: I overlooked something, hahha
Now I can get it to work manually now indeed :slight_smile:

And did you get any performance boost after the update?
What do you expect from an update of a simple text file, which contains nothing more than the information, that the related Intel device
a) doesn’t need a driver and
b) should be given a name with the word "Intel" by the OS?

…yes ! Would be fine , will wait for it . Have 10.1.1.38 installed ( almost every Intel-driver ), but can not get it to 10.1.1.42 !
Though I know its not important coz its only text-files , still every driver-updater wants to update , while it cant ! Not manual also .
Looks like this will never succeed , newer inf-files will not do the job either , maybe coz the date of these inf-files ??

EDIT by Fernando: Code of the quoted post corrected

@Pete12 :
After having realized, how many INF files I would have to edit manually and to digitally sign thereafter, I withdraw my offer to correct the date of all the latest Intel Chipset Device INF files v10.1.1.42 and v10.1.2.84. Since you are the only Forum member, who asked for it until now (mindwarper doesn’t need them anymore), this seems to be no problem for other users.
Maybe Intel will publish its next “Chipset Device Software Set” with correct dates.

@ all:
Although I had decided a few days ago not publish a new AIO package with the latest Intel Chipset Device INF files, but with corrected dates, I have done it today.

Update of the Start post
Changelog:

  • updated: “Latest pure Intel Chipset Device INF Files v10.1.x.xx mod+signed by Fernando” with corrected dates, composed and digitally signed by me at 02/04/2017

Any feedback is much appreciated.
If you should find any Intel chipset device, which is not supported by my updated “All-in-One package”, please let me know it.

Regards
Dieter (alias Fernando)

Very good, Fernando, coz I dont think Intel will chance its behaviour with the date of the inf-files in future.
Im still on 10.1.1.38 and with your new modded inf-files im able to get this all in latest, maybe my fault but I just cant find your Winraid-CA certificate for download .

There is no need to download it separately.
Within the unzipped package there is a folder named "Win-RAID CA Certificate", where you can find the required files. Just right-click onto the file named "Import Win-RAID CA.cmd" and choose the option "Run as Administrator".

Maybe I should reorganize the folder structure of the package by creating a new folder named "INF Files" and moving all INF file subfolders into it. This way the users will find the Win-RAID CA Certificate folder easier.

Thanks Fernando, finally latest inf-files for all my Intel-drivers !
I think I will keep these inf-files the rest of this year…

Done!

Hey @Fernando you and me both know Intel chipset driver INF thingy is like cosmetic’s, but I have found this driver in “Intel desktop utility” called SMbus 2.0 for my PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8CA2&SUBSYS_85341043&REV_00
SMbus on z97, its pretty old but when you install it you get a 3rd resource in the resources tab in the device manager program and its an “IRQ” resource assignment , with Intel’s chipset INF driver you get only “Memory range” and “I\O range” can you test this for me and let us know if its salvation for 4th 5th gen driver’s, it should make temp’s real and low -

SMBUS.zip (1020 KB)

Works fine on my Z270 board and my Z77 board. I do notice it misses some drivers on the z77 board if I just run the installer, even with a clean copy of windows. now if you run the installer in cmd prompt with -overall it installs all the drivers. For example the z77 without -overall does not install the usb 2 drivers with the -overall it does. This is on windows 10. I have noticed this for all 10.x.x.x drivers. Same thing with my brothers x79 2011-v3

@ShadowFur :
Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

What means "works fine"? Did you realize any stability or performance benefit after having installed these INF files?

What lets you think, that your system needs "all the drivers" (that are just text files and no real drivers)?
Have you done a look into the C:\Windows\Inf folder and counted the oemxx.inf files before and after the installation using the "-overall" command?
Please read the start post of this thread. Then you will know how important the Intel Chipset Device "drivers" are.

Dieter (alias Fernando)

@Fernando :
I went by device manager.
without the -overall option on the z77 the intel USB and USB2 drivers are all from microsoft and are not labled intel in any way. When I run with -overall it states drivers are from intel and states its intel usb and intel usb2 drivers. also the driver version changes in device manager.
I see your post. But then I read the readme for the lastest inf installer and this section sticks out

1. OVERVIEW

The Intel(R) Chipset Device Software installs Windows

INF files to the target system. These files outline to
the operating system how to configure the Intel(R) chipset
components in order to ensure that the following feature
functions properly:

- Identification of Intel(R) Chipset Components in
the Device Manager
This software can be installed in three modes: Interactive,
Silent and Unattended Preload. Interactive Mode requires
user input during installation; Silent Mode and Unattended
Preload do not.
This software also offers a set of command line switches,
which provide additional installation choices. Refer to
Section 4 for detailed descriptions of these switches.
