Intel (Converged Security) Management Engine: Drivers, Firmware and Tools (2-15)

The first step should always be running the MEInfo tool. What does the ME8 Info Tool show for your system?

@ DeathStalker:

Your posted MEInfo details verify, that your system is using the ME8 1.5M Firmware.
So you will be able
a) to flash the ME8 Consumer Firmware to v8.1.52.1496 and
b) to update the Intel MEI driver to v10.0.25.1006.

MANY thanks, my friend!

@ all:
Update of the Start Post
Changelog:

  • new: Intel MEInfo Tool for ME9/9.1 systems
  • new: Intel ME9 Business Firmware Update v9.1.2.1010 for 5MB systems
  • updated: Intel ME9 Consumer Firmware Update v9.1.2.1010 for 1.5MB systems (new installers)

@ Pacman:
Please have a look into the start post.
If anything should not be correct or up-to-date, please send me a PM.
Additional questions:
  1. Do the users with an Intel ME9.5 system really need a separate ME9.5 Info Tool version or is the new Intel ME9 Info Tool usable for them as well?
  2. Are there new ME9.5 Firmware versions available for 1.5MB and 5MB systems?

Thanks in advance!

Fernando…

C. Intel MEI Firmware Update Tools
a) for “normal” 1.5MB Consumer Systems (Hxx, Mxx, Zxx):

>Intel ME9 Consumer Firmware Update v9.0.31.1487…missing for Z87

>Intel ME9 Consumer Firmware Update v9.1.2.1010…it’s only for Z97

Tested on Gigabyte boards.

Edit:
Also MEInfo (same as above)

@ ex58:
Thanks for your infos regarding the compatibility of the ME9 1.5MB Firmware versions 9.0.xx.xxxx and 9.1.xx.xxxx.
Meanwhile I have customized the start post of this thread according to your advice and hope, that is ok now.

Does that mean, that Intel 8-Series Chipset systems need another MEInfo version than Intel 9-Series Chipset systems?

I think same apply for MEInfo version…will works only with 9.0.21/22.xxxx versions.

Edit:
I got this on TT forum (only 1.5M):

Thanks for the quick reply.
I have just customized the MEInfo part of the start post.

Yea,much better.
This is how should be.

Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Version 10.0.2.1000 WHQL

http://www.station-drivers.com/index.php…-startdown/719/

Thanks for the info!
I have already seen and downloaded that package, but I do not really understand, what is new besides the package version. It contains the Intel ME drivers v10.0.0.1204 WHQL, which I am already offering within the start post since several weeks.
Although the driver version is the same (v10.0.0.1024), Intel obviously has done some changes, because the files now are dated 04/29/2014 (previously they were dated 03/20/2014).

The only thing I will do is to re-pack and re-upload the Intel ME drivers v10.0.0.1204.

On Station drivers, they have listed also 10.0.1.1000 version, which even I have fault to install.
This 10.0.2.1000 version, supose to fix this.
I didn’t try ,as running 10.0.25.1006 version (drivers only).

@ all:

Update of the Start Post

Changelog:

  • new: Intel Drivers & Software Set v10.0.2.1000 WHQL dated 05/19/2014 (with installer and complete Intel MEI software)
  • refreshed: 32/64bit Intel MEI drivers v10.0.0.1024 WHQL dated 04/29/2014 (shown by the Device Manager as being dated 03/13/2014), for a manual installaton from within the Device Manager

Since I was able to successfully install the “Intel Drivers & Software Set v10.0.2.1000 WHQL” onto my Z68 and onto my Z77 system, I am pretty sure, that these driverpacks are suitable with all Intel chipsets from 6-Series up.

This is what the ME8 Info tool shows after having run the installer of the complete package v10.0.2.1000 WHQL onto my Z77 system (just for testing, usually I only install the Intel ME driver):
[[File:Intel ME Info Z77.png|none|auto]]

And here is the MEInfo screenshot of my Z77 system after having installed the newest Intel MEI Drivers & Software Set v10.0.25.1006:
[[File:Intel ME Info Z77-Pic2.png|none|auto]]

Attention: It is not recommended to install any complete Intel MEI Drivers & Software Set on top of another Intel MEI Set version (the installation will fail with an error message!). The previously running Intel MEI Software has to be uninstalled, before any new Intel MEI Software can be installed.

Any feedback is much appreciated!

Thanks for the heads up Fernando,

So the main difference is one have WHQL certification (v10.0.2.1000) w/refreshed driver v10.0.0.1024 WHQL, while the other one (v10.0.25.1006) is only digital signed by Intel?

Is there a version history somewhere?

Anyway, grabbed the first one for my z77 board!

Yes, that is correct.

No, "Release Notes" with the version history are only published after the official release by Intel.

Thanks for the info!

Well, HP says this a HotFix to prevent "error encountered when upgrading Intel ME SW 8.1 to Intel ME 10.0.1.1000 requires a reboot and reinstall" (source)

@ shroeder:

Welcome at Win-RAID Forum and thanks for the info!

Fernando

Well, I saw my nickname thanked in the 1st page of this thread. How cool is a forum whose owner thanks you from another site ?
So why not register ?

Bonus, some MEI Release Notes (link) that explains the need for architectural changes in the 10.x branch (ie. BUS capability for NFC support).

I tried to flash this Intel ME8 1.5MB FWUpdate v8.1.52.1496 firmware and I received:
