Well now. I thought all Intel 300 series chipsets are only for CSME v12. Also, reading through those comments made me glad I didnāt try to update ME firmware without PlutoManiacās approval by him posting a verified version in the first post.
Finally, isnāt GIGABYTE this one corp that promises lifetime warranty on its products? Try its customer support, maybe the people there will exchange your bricked motherboard for freeā¦
Looks like no more ME firmware updates until Plutomanic returns.
The "firmware" posted by @westlake , the v12 files, are in fact not firmware files at all, luckily I tried to open them with FIT before flashing.
11.8.71.3630 works fine on my Asus Z170 Deluxe.
Well, it must be a dirty firmware that only works on some boards.
Apparently those with problems have gigabyte motherboards. whyā¦
I think the lifetime warranty does not apply to modifications outside gigabyte. If lifetime warranty provided. But we can always try
Intel CSME 11.8 Corporate PCH-H D, A Firmware v11.8.71.3630 was verified by plutomaniac. It has the same Version Control Number -> 284 and gpvecchi certifies that it works for ASUS motherboards.
However, considering that the VCN gets incremented if there is a security fix, a significant firmware change or a new feature addition is no hurry until additional information regarding this release appears.
On my Asus TUF Z370 Pro Gaming motherboard with last bios 2203 had trouble with v11.8.71.3630 (no boot until I reset cmos), it works if I donāt set XMP or put any value for FSB (only works on Auto, not even 100 mhz). Reverted to Intel CSME 11.8 Consumer PCH-H D,A Firmware v11.8.70.3626 fixed it.
Gentlemen, this is f@@ked up !! How is this even possible ?? Someone creates software that kills bios on our motherboards! Who is generally responsible for this act of intentional wrecking ???
The main problem i see with intel and the mainboard vendors. intel has built in many, many security holes into this ME/TXE stuff and did not create an easy way for the ordinary home user to upgrade. For TXE it is pretty much impossible to update.
The mainboard vendors do a lousy job in maintaining recent fixes.
At least linux and lately MS offer microcode updates within the OS.
For the ME/TXE part they leave us mostly alone until maybe a lawsuit can force them to have to offer updates for a given number of years.
Donāt be stupid, there is no intentional wrecking here, the files I posted on S-D are generic Intel stock regions, they are not pulled from a BIOS and are not dirty.
If what you say is true, that the FW physically broke your BIOS chip, then Intel messed something up pretty bad.
I just updated my Z370 board to 11.8.71.3630 without issue.
Can confirm successful upgrade on a ASUS MAXIMUS_VIII_HERO (Z170).
so far no problems with 11.8.71.3630 on both of my notebook Dell Voestro 5568 (Kabylake) & Asus K456UR (Skylake)
thanks for the advice! my motherboard is not working not yours
Just flashed v11.8.71.3630 Consumer PCH-H D,A Firmware posted on Station Drivers by @Pacman on my MSI GS40 notebook (HM170 chipset) without any issues.
everything is at your own risk as it is written
, you should try to trigger recovery through dualbios all that can help you ā¦I have no experience with dualbios so you have to look ,try to accidentally turn off the power when turning it on, it must have some autodetection for bios repair
maybe some jumper on the board
Thanks for the good advice. I really tried to restore the bios in at least two ways, but nothing really worked out ā¦
BIOS failed and an attempt to restore it from the backup was unsuccessful.
EDIT by Fernando: Unneeded blank lines and unneeded parts of the fully quoted post removed (to save space within this thread)
I, for one, will not be flashing 11.8.71.3630 to any of my other compatible systems, after the "bad" experience with the asrock board.

@plutomaniac :
Since I recently got access to a Microsoft Surface Pro 7 notebook, which has an Icelake CPU and an Intel ME Firmware v13.0.1086.7, I would rather like to do an SPI dump by using the Intel Flash Programming Tool.
Question: Do you know where I can find an Intel FPT tool v13?
