Intel (Converged Security) Management Engine: Drivers, Firmware and Tools (2-15)

No, I don’t have such a system. But, like you said, it is only for localization.

@ ex58:
Thanks for the links!

I couldn’t find a driver v10.0.38.1036 within the 1.5M and 5M packages.
AFAIK the included Intel ME drivers are still v10.0.30.1054, but the SYS files are now dated 01/06/2015. Nevertheless the Device Manager will still show them as being dated 09/23/2014, because it just reads the associated INF file.
I doubt, that Intel has changed anything regarding the drivers.

@ ErfanDL:

Here are the "updated" Intel ME drivers v10.0.30.1054 WHQL dated 01/06/2015 (still shown as being dated 09/23/2014):

Intel ME Drivers v10.0.30.1054 WHQL.rar (3.01 MB)

Nothing new, the links from Intel are the same so I just renamed the text at first post.

The date that is shown at the new files is 06/01 because that’s when someone from Intel copied them to a new directory to be packed for the driver. SHA-1 is the same, Digital Signature still from 09/2014.

Thank you so much! I have been fighting with the dreaded "PCI Simple Communications Controller " yellow exclamation mark and unknown device listing for a week after upgrading to a Gigabyte Gigabyte GA-Z97M-D3H Rev1.0 …

I have tried 5 different variations of the Intel Management Engine drivers to no avail. I tried Gigabyte support, what a joke… The device id info was PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8CBA&CC_0780.

Finally i found this thread today, and the drivers at this link worked:

Intel MEI Drivers v10.0.30.1054 for manual Have Disk installation

I went to browse for drive in device manager, pointed it to the main directory, AND IT FINALLY LOADED THE DRIVER and the device went away and became Intel(R) Management Engine Interface

HOORAY! Thanks again!

Welcome at Win-RAID Forum and thanks for your report.
It is fine, that you found here what you were searching for.

NEW! Intel ME10.0 1.5MB from v10.0.30.1072 → v10.0.35.1012
NEW! Intel ME10.0 5MB from v10.0.30.1072 → v10.0.35.1012

Note: VCN was raised from 2 to 3. You cannot downgrade to anything lower that v10.0.35.1012 after update.

I’m trying to upgrade my Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard with latest ME Firmware (10.0.35.1012). I downloaded 1.5mb version but when I try to upgrade I get:

Error 8704: Firmware update operation not initiated due to a SKU mismatch

I managed to successfully upgrade to Intel ME Firmware v9.1.25.1005 (1.5MB) downloaded from the first post.
I suppose I’m doing something wrong. What can I do?

PS: I already update the driver to 10.0.38.1036 version.

@ GDT:
Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

The Intel ME Firmware version has nothing to do with the Intel ME Driver version.
That means, that your system obviously can only use an Intel ME Firmware of the v9.1 development branch, whereas it has no problem to work with the Intel ME Drivers of the v10.0 branch.

Regards
Dieter (alias Fernando)

So can’t I upgrade to v10 branch? Is it not for my chipset model? Should I stay with v9.1?

You cannot upgrade the ME Firmware to the v10 branch, because it is not compatible with your system, but you can update it, when a new Intel ME Firmware of the v9.1 branch is available.

(Posted here to find it in the future): 100-series has Consumer (old 1.5MB) & Corporate (old 5MB) SKUs.

Hey Fernando. I checked my version of IME firmware and it says I have 8.1.0.1248 with the driver 9.0.0.1287 installed on my Sabertooth Z77 mb. Would you suggest I upgrade the firmware to something else or keep the 8.1.0.1248 as it is.

If I were you, I would update the Intel ME8 Firmware to the latest version 8.1.52.1496 and the Intel ME driver to v10.0.30.1054.

Hope I do this right. I downloaded the Intel ME8 Firmware 8.1.52.1496 and have the file ME8_1.5M_Production.bin .What else do I need to flash-update this. I have never updated the IME firmware before.

@ NIK1:

Please look into the start post of this thread. The update of the Intel ME Firmware is quite simple.
What you need is the FirmwareUpdate Tool for ME8 Firmware and the 1.5M Firmware v8.1.52.1496 itself.

Hey Fernando sorry to bother you about this.I downloaded the Firmware Update Tool for ME8 Firmware and the 1.5M Firmware v8.1.52.1496.In the firmware update tool folder there is 4 sub folders- EFI- LocalDOS- LocalWin- Local-Win64.I tried the FWUpdLcl64.exe and got this error Error 8716: Invalid usage. If I open a command prompt and type in a command like FWUpdLcl -fwver, I get FWUpdLc1 is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. None of the command prompts work under FWUpdate on 1st page. What am I doing wrong.

@ NIK1:

Provided, that you are running a 64bit Wndows OS, I recommend to do the following:
1. Copy the folder named "Local-Win64" into the root of drive C.
2. Copy the ME8 Firmware file you want to get flashed into the folder C:\Local-Win64 and rename the file to ME.BIN.
3. Run the Command Prompt as Administrator and navigate to the folder C:\Local-Win64.
4. Type "FWUpdLcl64.exe -save OLD.BIN" and then hit "Enter" to make a backup of your old firmware version for safety reasons.
5. Type "FWUpdLcl64.exe -f ME.BIN" and hit "Enter" to update your ME Firmware to the desired version.
6. The rest will be done automaticly.
7. Once the Firmware Update completed successfuly, shut down your computer and power it off for a minute.
8. Power on your computer and enjoy the updated Intel ME Firmware (you may check it by running the Intel MEInfo Tool for ME8 Firmware systems according the start post).

Good luck!
