Intel (Converged Security) Management Engine: Drivers, Firmware and Tools (2-15)

Thanks for the confirmation.

For those playing, remember to use the MEInfo from the package here as that gives you version 11.0.0.73 which will read it correctly. I originally used 11.0.0.68 and it gave errors which gave me a slight heart-attack… I can’t find 11.0.0.78 MEInfo but .73 is good enough.

Hello,

My result: http://www.imgim.com/808incij2277718.png

I can’t update my firmware. When i click it, it gives error.txt and tells me “Error 8716: Invalid usage”. Probably it’s about my current version is 8.0 not 8.1… How can i fix it?

Invalid usage means that you are not typing the command properly. If the file is called ME.bin and you are using FWUpdate x64, then the usual command is: FWUpdLcl64.exe -f ME.bin. Instructions on how to use the basic commands of MEInfo, MEManuf & FWUpdate are found at the first post.

Oh, I was trying to run FWUpdLcl64.exe but it did not show up. So, I was wrong? Am I gonna run a empty cmd (as admin) and after that will I type FWUpdLcl64.exe command? I almost read everything but I did not get it actually  And my enligsh is not so good.

EDIT //

I guess I did it http://www.imgim.com/7951incig4935807.png

Is that right?

Yes, now you typed it properly.

Thanks for your interest. I have one more thing to ask you. What is this benefit for me exactly? I mean is there any release notes or something else? And probably I don’t have to do this everytime I format my pc, right? It must be like bios update.

Thanks for your reply, the program worked after adding argument -oemid. But a problem on my laptop seems more serious: when lid open after 2 minutes, laptop restart( both on Windows 10 and Hackintosh EI Captain ). When revertingto my original ME firmware, hibernation on OS X seems flawsless but Windows still reboot. Hence i guess the hibernation on my computer is abnormal.

I saw your start post says that ME 9.5.x is for Haswell Lynx, but MEinfo just shows my ME is 9.0.x. That’s really confused me :frowning:

ME is responsible for many aspects of an Intel system from security to health monitoring etc. More details about ME features can be found at the first post. The benefits are not meant to be user-noticeable. It’s firmware, you update once and you are done.

I don’t think it’s ME-related especially since FWUpdate just updates the CODE (version) and does not alter any DATA (system-specific ME settings). Maybe something else is the issue. ME 9.5 is mobile U-series only. It doesn’t matter, whatever firmware you have that’s the one you can update to. For example 9.0 –> 9.0, 10.0 –> 10.0, 9.5 –> 9.5 etc.

@plutomaniac

That’s interesting. I found this post really solve the sleep problem after update ME firmware ( refer to http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-lapto…s-uptime-6.html ), so it’s nearly the same as me.

Can you give me some hint to solve this sleep problem?

Again, thanks for your reply!

It’s not related to ME itself but rather Apple’s operating system. I have no such experience. Try those patches mentioned there, other than that I don’t have anything else to suggest.

Hello,

Is it safe to update MEI firmware on my Asus X551CA laptop?

Proper firmware to update with would be: Intel ME 8 Consumer 1.5MB Firmware v8.1.65.1586? Also, I assume to use 1.5MB since it is a cheap consumer grade laptop?

Thanks!

Hi Guys!
Help me please to choose Intel MEI version to my system. I couldn’t identify what is my system, 1.5MB or 5MB.
I’ve freshly installed Windows 8.1 Pro x64. (motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD5H, CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K).
I think at off. site Gigabyte (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product…spx?pid=4483#dl) for Win 8.1 64x very old version of Intel MEI (v.9.5.15.1730 - 2013/10/18).
So could you please advise compatible newer version of Intel ME? Thank you.

On the same Gigabyte page you have newer driver version (under Win 10) .

@ zzbloopzz:

1.5MB based on chipset. As you said, 8.1.65 is the latest 1.5MB firmware.

@ rufik75:

1.5MB based on chipset, latest driver is 11.0.0.1166 and can be found at the first post.

Hello!

The ME version in my laptop is 9.0.21.1462. So I want to upgrade it to 9.0.31.1487.
Before I flash it, should I read the configurations from current ME and merge it to the 9.0.31.1487 image with fitc.exe?
Or just flash the 9.0.31.1487 image that I downloaded?

Thank You!

@ bin456789:

If you use FWUpdate you don’t have to transfer any settings. So you can just download 9.0.31 firmware and flash it.

Transferring settings with FITC would be required if you wanted to use Flash Programming Tool and flash a full ME Region or SPI image directly.

@plutomaniac

Hello

Intel ME FW 11.0.0.1180.

EDIT: Tried with FWUpdate, but still doesn’t work, will use FIT.

Intel ME Firmware 11.0.0.1180_CON_X_PRD_EXTR.zip (1.16 MB)

Thank You @plutomaniac ! But I got confused again.
I got two 9.0.31.1487 1.5M files here.
Intel ME 9.0 Firmware Repository Pack r7.rar >>> 9.0.31.1487_1.5MB_PRD_RGN.bin
Intel ME Firmware v9.0.31.1487 (1.5MB).rar >>> ME9.0_1.5M_Production.bin

But their md5 is not the same.
Which one should I flash?

1180 didn’t work for me either with fwupdate. Like I posted before, 1178 worked without a problem. |addpics|q7-3-1661.png,q7-4-67ac.png|/addpics|
