Intel ESB2 and Windows Server 2012 R2

Hello!
I’m want install W2k12 R2 to server based on this motherboard http://www.supermicro.nl/products/mother…00v/x7dvl-e.cfm
But i’m not find driver Intel ESB2 compatible with W2k12 R2.
Maybe exist driver for my situation, сreated by Fernando?
P.S. : sorry for my worst English.

AHCI or RAID? Also, what VEN_ID and DEV_ID is shown for AHCI/RAID at Device Manager? Based on someone else who very recently asked the same question, driver v10.1.0.1008 should work for your system either way.

Only RAID.
Sorry, server is down, i’m not see hardware id’s.

If it’s down how are you going to update the drivers? Unless you mean temporarily. Anyway, for RAID download and install Intel RST AHCI/RAID Drivers & Software Set v10.1.0.1008 WHQL which can be found HERE.

My guess is it will report: VEN_8086 & DEV_2682 which is Intel(R) ESB2 SATA RAID Controller

This is absolutely correct.

I am attempting to load windows server 2012 R2 on an Intel S5000vsa server board with the esb2 sata raid controller. When I set up the raid 5 array within the utility at startup (CTR-E), iniiltialize it and set as boot drive and then boot from install DVD. The OS setup recognizes the logical drive and begins install process but after it finishes the first reboot, the raid array is gone and I have to set it up again. I tried the driver from Intel driver site for this server board (ESRT2_Windows_v.14.06.1007.2011_WHQL) as well as the RST AHCI/RAID driver version 10.1.0.1008 from this forum. When it comes to the step to choose drive and I click load driver and select either one of these (separate attempts of course) the logical drive vanishes and the only way to get it back is to reboot and enter ctrl-e and re-create the raid. It seems like no matter what I try, the raid configuration gets wiped out.

I probably should have left well enough alone and stayed on windows server 2003 but now I need to get it running. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

The actual part number on my board is D29137-114 which from what I can gather uses a software based raid controller model esb2 but I could be wrong. The logic board actually has 6 sata ports…

Here is my comment:

  1. It is hard to believe, that a correctly created Intel RAID array can be simply erased by the Setup of any Operating System.
The only way to delete the related RAID array data, which are written by the RAID Utility onto the hidden track 0 of the freshly created RAID array, is either by using a special tool, which erases all data inclusive those on track 0, or by breaking the array, which can only be done by the RAID Utility itself.
This lets me think, that the Intel RAID ROM version of your mainboard BIOS does not really match the on-board Intel SATA RAID Controller, with the consequence, that the Intel RAID Utility is not able to create a stable RAID array.
  2. If you are searching for an Intel RAID driver, which supports your on-board Intel RAID Controller and the desired Windows Operating System, it is most important to know
    a) the exact DeviceID of the on-booard Intel SATA RAID Controller (can be checked by entering the Device Manager of an already running Windows OS) and
    b) the version of the Intel RAID ROM, which is within the BIOS of your system, resp. the version of the Intel RAID Utility (it has the same version number). You can easily check the latter by entering CTRL+E while booting.
  3. Provided, that the DeviceID of your on-board Intel SATA RAID Controller is DEV_2682, only a very few old Intel RAID drivers up to v10.1.0.1008 will support it.

Questions:
1. Which is the version of your on-board Intel RAID Utility?
2. Do you know the DeviceID or the complete HardwareIDs of your on-board Intel SATA RAID Controller (can be checked from within the “Storage Controllers” section of the Device Manager)? If yes, please post them.
3. Can you attach the driver named “ESRT2_Windows_v.14.06.1007.2011_WHQL” (as ZIP or RAR archive? Otherwise please post the link to that driver.
