Intel RST/RSTe Drivers (latest: v20.0.1.1039/ v9.0.3.1026)

@myDNA :
Thanks for the info regarding the broken MEGA link. It is meanwhile repaired.
Question: Why didn’t you use the “Mirror” link?

@Fernando

That’s a good question??!! I guess I was too occupied wanting to help you fix the broken link that I didn’t even think of the mirror LOL
In any case, I usually don’t install, or give high priority to “drivers and software” packages when there’s a chance to just install just drivers only, i try to keep my machine lean as possible LOL Although I do like to download complete packages too, to have at hand to test etc.

Hello!

I have some probably stupid questions…:stuck_out_tongue:
I have an Asus Rampage V Extreme motherboard with X99 chipset, im running one satacontroller in Raid 0 and the other as Ahci. If i run iatacd.exe of any version of the lower (3.xxx, 4.xxx, 5.xxx) rstEdrivers, it only updates the ahci controller not the raid, i always have to update that one manually, if i use the 14.xxx rste, it updates the raid controller but not the ahci, is this normal or am i missing something?
And what is the differnce between the files, iaAHCI, iaStor, iaStorB, iaStorE? they seem to contain the drivers for all controllers no matter which one you choose, when updating manually. And finally what is the exact difference between rst and rstedrivers?

@DrDiezel
Yes, it is normal. There a 2 differents and independant SATA controllers on the X99 mboard. One (sSata) does operate only in AHCI mode, the other one does operate in RAID mode or AHCI mode.
See example attached:

SATA_controllers_on _X99.PNG

I have a notebook here with 7-series chipset, but the highest SATA driver I can install is 12.9.4.1000, but on my own desktop PC, also with 7-series chipset I can install 13.1.0.1058. Does anyone have any idea why?

Yes, the reason is quite simple:
Intel 7-Series Chipset Desktop and Mobile systems have different on-board Intel SATA AHCI Controller models with different DeviceIDs (Desktop: DEV_1E02, Mobile: DEV_1E03). The original Intel RST(e) drivers up to v12.9.x.xxxx do support both sorts of Intel SATA AHCI Controllers, whereas the v13.1.0.1058 just supports the Desktop model named “Intel(R) 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller” (DEV_1E02).
You can easily verify it by opening the related files named iaAHCIC.inf by using the Windows Editor (notepad.exe).

Update of the start post

Changelog:

  • new: 32/64bit Intel RST(e) drivers v15.5.0.1047 Beta for Win7-10 dated 02/22/2017
  • new: Intel RST(e) Drivers & Software Set v15.5.0.1047 Beta dated 03/09/2017

Notes:
  1. The above mentioned drivers are dated 02/22/2017, digitally signed by Intel and usable with all Windows Operating Systems from Win7 up. Only Intel 100-Series/C230 Chipsets, 200-Series Chipsets and Systems with an Intel Skylake or KabyLake CPU are natively supported by these drivers.
  2. New: These are the first Intel RST(e) drivers, which additionally do support the “Intel(R) Optane™ Memory System Acceleration” and the “Intel(R) Smart Response Technology” (if the related hardware is on-board).
  3. Similar to the v15.2 series the v15.5 series RAID drivers natively do support the following Intel SATA RAID Controller DeviceIDs: DEV_2822, DEV_282A, DEV_9D07, DEV_A106, DEV_A107, DEV_A286 and DEV_A28E.
  4. Thanks to Station-Drivers for the source package.

EDIT: Meanwhile I have installed the complete Drivers & Software Set v15.5.0.1047 onto my Z170 system, whose Intel SATA Controller is running in AHCI mode. Everything seems to work fine.
Here are some pictures:

Thanks, do you still suggest just the drivers for AHCI mode, or the full set? Is there some feture that can be software enabled? Thanks!

No, I have installed the complete Set inclusive installer just for testing purposes.
On my “normal” working system running in AHCI mode I would never run the installer of an RST Drivers & Software Set.

@Fernando

both ">32bit Intel RST(e) AHCI/RAID Drivers v15.5.0.1047 Beta<" and ">64bit Intel RST(e) AHCI/RAID Drivers v15.5.0.1047 Beta<" links lead to 32bit zip.

P.S. Thanks for t he fix. Btw, as i am running a 64bit Windows, should i only install 64bit driver or both (mb for better compatibility)?

@KotTHECat :
You are right - the MEGA link to the 64bit version was wrong (the MIRROR links to both architecture variants were ok).
Meanwhile I have corrected the MEGA link to the 64bit drivers and hope, that everything is fine now.

A 64bit OS requres 64bit drivers and doesn’t accept 32bit ones.

What is the best driver for z77 chipset (Asus Maximus V Gene) using Windows 10?
Thanks for helping me

Check out the table at the bottom of the 1st post in “Best Driver thread” here : Which are the "best" Intel AHCI/RAID drivers?
but it looks like Intel RST(e) v13.1.0.1058

@Fernando ,
It seems new v15.5.0.1051 WHQL now available for X99 (8086-Dev2822&CC-0104) as well ?
What do think about ? What EFI RAID driver recommended ?

@100PIER :
Thanks for the info regarding the new Intel RST(e) drivers v15.5.0.1051.
Yes, these new drivers do support X99 Chipset systems and their on-board Intel SATA RAID Controller DEV_2822.
Regarding the best matching Intel RAID BIOS modules please look into the just updated start post.

Good luck with these new drivers!
Dieter (alias Fernando)

Since I’m testing the 15.2.x drivers I realized that the windows (7 SP1 and Win10 14393/15063) boot takes 5-7seconds longer. In this time noting happens. Seems the system try du initalize something.
From the 15.5.0.1047 beta this problem went away even with the new 15.5.0.1051 WHQL :).

@Fernando
I have successfully installed the Software package v15.5.0.1051 WHQL:

drivecontrollerinfoX99_Sabertooth.PNG

Drivers works fine and are performant.
However, the problem I got is when launching the Graphic Interface (to check the RAID infos).
I got this alert (unknown error) and application does crash as reported into W10 Reliability Screen:

ERREUR_RST.PNG

ERREUR_RST_and_CRASH.PNG

Any idea ? Any potential conflict somewhere ?

Until now I have no idea, what may have caused this “unknown error”.
