I have a very simple set made up of 8700k, MSI Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon mainboard and one single M.2 connected Adata XPG SX8200 Pro NVMe SSD. The installed OS is Windows 10 1909.
Hardware Ids:
SATA AHCI controller VEN_8086 DEV DEV_A282,
NVM Express Controller VEN_1CC1 DEV_8201
Both drivers are Microsoft generic and have version 10.0.18362.1
I successfully installed the "pure" Intel 17.7.0.1006 drivers for AHCI and see no reason to upgrade NVMe drivers.
1) Was it a good idea to update AHCI drivers if there is only one single M.2 connected NVMe SSD? Or should I have left the Microsoft generic ones?
2) Would it be useful and possible to disable in BIOS the SATA controller in my case?
3) iaAHCIC.inf installs not only iaStorAC.sys but also RSTMwEventLogMsg.dll and RstMwService.exe drivers. What are they for?

Hello: Can someone pls give me the quick lowdown for which drivers and sata ports I should be using on the old p6x58d-e (x58) for my Samsung drives. I’ve tried the newest marvel drivers but as noted in this thread they don’t seem to be compatible with trim. Should I just stick to the intel ports, and if so what is the best driver for them atm? Samsung magician just doesn’t seem to recognize anything on the marvel ports for optimization and trim purposes. Thanks

Hello everyone,
I’m struggling with the re-installation of OS on my Lenovo IdeaPad U310 laptop. The unit was shipped with Windows 7 with option to upgrade to Windows 8. I tried installing both win 8 and win 10 from scratch but can’t get RST to work.
As I understand this unit has 32GB SSD + 500 GB HDD and Intel HM77 Express Chipset which according to https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/…ss-chipset.html supports Rapid Storage Technology. And indeed RST was working when windows 7 was installed.
With the default BIOS image shipped with the product default setting for storage controller was RAID. I have upgraded BIOS to latest from Lenovo site and now when i choose option “Load Setup Defaults” storage controller mode is set to AHCI.
I dont know if I should leave default mode of AHCI or change back to RAID?
Or, should I open separate thread on this forum?

Note: These drivers are dated 12/19/2019 and WHQL certified. They are designed for Intel C600/C600+/C220/C220+ Series Chipset systems like X79, X99 and X299. Only Windows Operating Systems from Win8 are supported. A complete Intel RSTe Drivers & Software Set v16.2.2.xxxx is not (yet) available.

Still nothing for 8086 A102…
Don’t be too disappointed, but users of an old Intel chipset system up to 100-Series should not wait for the release of a new RST drivers, which natively do support their on-board Intel SATA Controller. Intel will not spend any money for this purpose.
Looks like the 17.5 branch does support intel 100/C230 and is still being developed.
Maybe it’s better for us 100 series chipset users to stick to 17.5?

Yes, all Intel chipsets from 100-Series up are supported by these new RST v17.5 series AHCI/RAID drivers, but I am rather unsure, whether Intel is still working on their development. You should consider, that these drivers have been released by Intel already in December 2019.
Users with an Intel 100/C230 chipset system should compare them with other RST/RST(e) AHCI/RAID drivers and report >here< about their results.
v17.8.0.1065 work fine on CM238 raid0 config ,still has support

How can I install driver only?
When I install Intel RST Drivers & Software Set v17.8.8.1072 with all bundle crap it works fine, if I delete all RST then I boot I have default AHCI driver from Microsoft, then I change it manually to Intel’s but on next boot my HDD is gone and this driver has a yellow (!) mark. Then I booted to other OS and copypasted drivers from Intel RST Drivers & Software Set v17.8.8.1072 to System32-Drivers folder and it worked on boot. Then on next boot it’s gone again. If it has (!) mark then reinstalling or selecting Intel wont fix it, I need to change it to MS then again to Intel then it works but may broke on reboot. Is there a guide how to install driver only 100%?
