Intel RST/RSTe Drivers (latest: v20.1.0.1015/ v9.0.0.1836)

Bit of a newbie-ish post, but I’ve installed the RST(e) AHCI drivers up till this newest 13.01.1.1000 release without issue, and am suddenly unable to proceed with installation of 13.01.1.1000, wondering if anyone can help me troubleshoot:

If I run the SetupRST executable I get a “This platform is not supported” error. If I attempt to update via Device Manager, Win7 will first attempt to tell me that my driver is up to date, despite it still being 12.9.0.1001, so the common workaround that lands one at the “Have Disk” button and pointing toward the x64 RST download folder results in the following being listed:

As you can see from the header of the window, none of those match my current hardware’s ID of “Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series SATA AHCI Controller”. I have confirmed, by downloading an older 12.8xxxx version of the RST drivers that the same procedure (“Have Disk” etc.) will result in (and only in, there are no other options listed) the correct “Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series SATA AHCI Controller” being listed as an option for install.

Am I wrong or has Intel stopped supporting my hardware with this latest release? My system is fairly dated…

System info:
Win7 x64 Ultimate
Intel P55 Chipset Gigabyte Mobo (GA-P55A-UD3)
8GB 1600MHz RAM
Intel i7-870 CPU
~500GB Western Digital Caviar Black OS HDD
2TB Hitachi Deskstar Media HDD

Thanks for any help.

@ internethandle1:
Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

You are right - only actual Intel chipsets from 7-Series up are supported by the new Intel RST(e) drivers of the v13 branch.
So you have to stick with the v11/v12 RST/RST(e) drivers, unless you try to install a modded version of the v13 driver series (not really recommended for your system).

Fernando

Hi everybody. Important notes for Intel C600 and Windows Server 2003.
Download and install patch: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932755/en-us
Storport storage driver update for Windows Server 2003.
After installing I am able to see all drives and use RSTe software.
Tested on Supermicro SuperServer 5027R-WRF (Super X9SRW-F Motherboard, Intel® C602 Chipset). Windows Server 2003 x64 St
Tested in RAID mode.
Drivers/software: Intel RSTe 3.8.0 for X9 platforms

Hi All,

The guys over at station drivers has just posted a new driver set: 13.0.2.1000 WHQL.

Cheers

@ JohnM:
Thanks for the info.

@ all:

Update of the Start Post

Changelog:

  • new: 32/64bit Intel RST(e) drivers v13.0.2.1000 WHQL (dated 03/26/2014, suitable for AHCI systems from 5-Series up and for RAID systems from ICH8R/M up except X79)
  • new: Intel RST(e) Drivers & Software Set v13.0.2.1000 WHQL (dated 04/01/2014, usable for AHCI systems from 5-Series up and for RAID systems from ICH8R/M up except X79)

Thanks to Station-Drivers for having presented these new Intel RST(e) drivers.

Have fun with the new Intel RST(e) drivers!
Fernando

EDIT:
Here are the benchmark results I got with my Z77 AHCI system running this new Intel RST(e) driver v13.0.2.1000 WHQL:

Hey, thanks Fernando! Unfortunately the 64 bits driver seems to be the 32 bits driver too  (same files)

@ Cletje:

You are right. I had uploaded the 32bit driver twice to MEGA - my bad.
Now everything should be correct.

Thank you very much! Very quick, as we know from you.

//nevermind, i was too stupid to read properly ^^

v13.0.2.1000 Beta are WAY worse than v13.0.1.1000, in RAID that is!

I can confirm, that the benchmark results I got with my Z77 RAID0 system were better with the previously published Intel RST(e) drivers v13.0.1.1000.
Suprisingly the situation was vice versa, when I did my Z77 test in AHCI mode. Although the differences to the other tested Intel AHCI drivers were still very small, the brandnew Intel RST(e) drivers v13.0.2.1006 gave me the best overall scores.

@ all:
You can find the updated benchmark comparison test results within the start post of >this< thread.

Hey everybody,

new RSTe drivers v4.0.0.1045 are released on station-drivers today.

regards hanson

Thanks for the info.
After having downloaded the package and done a deeper look into the INF and SYS files I realized, that these drivers are no new ones, but just the RSTe drivers v4.0.0.1040 again.

EDIT:
Since I am actually not at home, I haven’t yet been able to test these new drivers.
Any report from users is much appreciated.

Intel is obviously working hard on 3 different Intel RST(e) driver branches simultaneously.

After having published yesterday new Intel RST(e) drivers of the v13.0 Series (v13.0.3.1001 WHQL) and the brandnew v13.1 Series (v13.1.0.1052), today Station-Drivers presented a new version of the v12.9 Series branch.

Update of the Start Post

Changelog:

  • new: 32/64bit Intel RST(e) drivers v12.9.3.1000 WHQL (dated 03/25/2014
  • new: Intel RST(e) Drivers & Software Set v12.9.3.1000 WHQL (dated 04/02/2014

All these drivers are usable with AHCI systems from 5-Series up and for RAID systems from ICH8R/M up except X79.

Thanks to Station-Drivers for having presented these new Intel RST(e) drivers.

Meanwhile I have installed the new 64bit Intel RST(e) v12.9.3.1000 WHQL in AHCI mode onto my Intel 7-Series Mobile system. Everything works perfect until now.

Have fun with the new Intel RST(e) drivers!
Fernando

13.0.3.1001 and even the new 13.1.0.1052 beta are all good, and better than 13.0.1.1000!

Did not try the 12.9.3.1000, don’t feel like going back to the 12.x series…
