ok thanks a lot for the explanation!
i thought setting in the bios would help but it wont right!
You can however set lower than defaults, and it will apply, this is why those settings are possible. This allows you to use less voltage, less power, create less heat etc, while under full 2-4 core loads
No, BIOS or throttlestop = same/same for this.
Ok thanks a lot! @Lost_N_BIOS
EDIT - Heloo again brother! a new problem has cropped up, my laptops battery suddenly died after playing fortnite on battery for 5 minutes. now the battey charges to 100 percent but as soon as i plug out the cable the battery dies wihch means there is zero backup. can this be due to any changes we did in the bios or just a coincidence that we changed the bios settings and battery died! thanks!
Time for new battery then. They only last so long, cheaper ones you purchase last the least amount of time.
Just coincidence.
ah thanks i was worried i messed it up! thanks gonna buy a new one after quarantine ends(if it ends) haha!
It will never endā¦ Better order one online and wait in your spacesuit for delivery
Haha you are too funny!
Hello again @Lost_N_BIOS
Just the other day i was wondering if we can set the ram frequency to 13321 so that I can get 2793 cl18 as according to me the ram uses cl19 for timings above 2800ā¦letās try this also. Haha thanks!
Btw how are you during this time?
EDIT - For 13321 we need to set multiplier to 11.5 right? can multipiers with decimal numbers be set in the vars because when i try to do so i cantā¦ i searched that hex for 11.5 is A.8 but when i set it i cant set it in one byteā¦i hope you understood my problem!
Few things,
#1 - No, 133x21 = (2793x2) = 5586MHz memory speed, your chipset/CPU nor memory can do that speed
#2 - No, your max memory multi = 15 and
#3 - No, your max memory speed is 2800MHz
Iām doing good, thanks! Hope you are as well!
No, there is no fractional multi for anything here
Hi Thanks for the reply @Lost_N_BIOS ! I mistyped the previous post I meant to say 133*11.5 so that I can get 2793 , but you said in the pm that we can set memory multiplier to whole numbers only right?
also can we set decimal memory frequnecy multi after modding the bios?
Youāre welcome! Yes, only whole numbers, if I remember right only 3-15
No, with unlocked BIOS you setting options remain the same.
Hello brother @Lost_N_BIOS ! How are you? Yesterday I saw this video https://youtu.be/U1-S0VL5Duk
In this the guy mentioned that connecting external display to the laptop gave him performance gains in almost all games. Performance boost of 38 percent especially in fortmite. So basically what connecting external display does is it completely used the dedicated gpu and intel hd. He mentioned that it can done in lenovo legion y540 without using external monitor that is in that laptop intel optimus can be disabled. So can we do that in my lenovo legion y520 too? So that i can use my 1050ti only to do everything. Also please please watch the complete video. Also i searched for this thing on internet and found a lot of people who have experienced this performance gains. So please help me disable intel optimus via bios vars!
Test external monitor and see what you get. Your BIOS does not have āoptimusā setting, unless itās named something else.
Thanks for the reply, but i do not have an external monitor. so thats why i asked for your help! Cant we do anything else?
@Lost_N_BIOS
No, not that I can see, and even if I found a possible setting to test (ie generic disable dGPU/Integrated graphics etc) you need flash programmer to test that, otherwise = black screen and no way to recover if itās not possible on your system - Per my unlocked laptop warning to add below
*** WARNING - To ANYONE with laptop and unlocked BIOS!!! ***
DO NOT try to enable this graphics card or disable that card, switch cards etc. Otherwise you will end up with no display output (ie black screen) and no way to recover except by blind flash or with flash programmer.
You can change graphics related settings, like changing memory sizes, or core speeds etc, just donāt try to disable one card or change which is main etc.
Additionally, be very careful when trying to undervolt CPU, you can leave BIOS unbootable due to CPU voltage too low (Sometimes even 0.05 is too much)
Thanks! I just have have my fathers laptop with only integrated gpu, can i use that as external monitor? @Lost_N_BIOS
No, external monitor would be normal monitor for desktop (or TV) that you connect via external connection plug on your system (DVI, HDMI, DP etc)
ok i sure have a hd tv @Lost_N_BIOS but how do i know if the tv is using nvidia gpu for the display?
btw are you online for the next 2-2.5 hours?
Because it will be if connected externally. Not sure how long I will be here this afternoon.
so i should try with the tv? by the way i connect it using hdmi only so it should give the results right? @Lost_N_BIOS
EDIT - I tried with the hdmi but the intel gpu is only used for the display and i reaad on the internet that with usb type c too the laptop displays via intel gpu and u said not to mess around with graphics card in bios so is there anything else we can do?
