Hi all,
I have a weird situation here.
I Always notice that with X79 the system appears a bit less responsive, compared with a 1155 based one, nevertheless I love my EVGA X79 Dark and I want to stuck with it for a while.
I have installed the EVGA without reinstalling Windows7, prior there was a Z77.
The system is functional, but the boot time is really long, about 90 secs with a Samsung 850 EVO, with the Z77 it was about 30secs.
I tried to update the modules on the bios thru UBU Tool and installed the X79 RSTe drivers 3.8.3.1016, but when I do so, the system NEVER make into OS, it is stuck on the Win7 load screen forever.
It only work with AHCI 1.0 drivers OR the drivers provided by EVGA (3.0.0.3011).
Even with the SSD attache to the Marvell controller my boot time is about 60 secs.
What can I do?
Should I reinstall Windows7? I really don’t want to, I would lose a lot of downloaded programs and settings.
At first step I recommend to check, which device resp. disk drive is responsable fo the extended boot time.
For this test you should unplug all disk drives (incl. the USB Flash Drives and Optical Drives) except the system drive. If the boot time should be still prolonged, change the SATA port for the system drive.
If nothing should help, try to replace the currently used AHCI driver by the Intel RST()e) driver v13,.1,.0.1058 WHQL.
For details please look into >this< thread.
Thank you Fernando.
With or wothout the other HD connected, the boot time is still bad.
I can’t say that the performance are bad except for the boot time.
I will try you RST(e) drivers.
Don’t bother dude, I’ve dropped those RSTe drivers for years now, they are really slow and erratic most of time.
I’m using an ASUS P9X79-Deluxe board with X79 chipset, 2xSSD’s and Win10, and running totally stable with the modded drivers from here = Modded Intel AHCI and RAID Drivers (digitally signed)
Now using the lastest v14.8.9.1053 with Fernando’s certification, and all I can say is that I have great performance, almost instant bootup times with UEFI support and as far I can say, they’re very stable drivers in the X79 setup.
The only thing you’ll have to pay attention is whenever Win10 updates itself to a new BUILD, you’ll have to install then back, because Windows will always prefer the RSTe old drivers or generic ones instead.
I hope that information help’s you in your quest for the best performance.

Are you booting in UEFI mode or Legacy mode?
My X79-UP4 takes forever in Legacy boot but UEFI is very fast.
I’m currently running the latest RST rom and drivers (unmodded), TRIM is working and speed is the same for me as older roms/drivers. (i run RST though not RSTe)
Also, did you upgrade from the Z77 to the X79? did you reinstall windows then or just boot from it as is?
