MC Extractor: Intel, AMD, VIA & Freescale Microcode Extraction Tool Discussion

good morning sirs, can i update my amd fx 60 microcode?

I have a issue booting windows/linux with Q9000 after an cpu upgrade. I checked the latest BIOS microcode and it’s listed as platform A0.
See here

as i understand from your explanation above. it is save to use B1 when upgrading the cpu microcode which is A0, right?

Yes, B1 supersedes A0.

thanks for the confirmation!
which one should i pick for my platform id (parentheses 5,7). 44 or B1? they have the exact same date. so i’m guessing they are for different platforms.

You want whichever matches your previous microcode (parentheses), if you are doing the 775 to 771 CPU change then put them both in there.

thanks! i used the wrong tool which didn’t list the numbers. will use the proper tool in the future

I have a question:
I downloaded the latest Intel microcodes (20180807) and dropped the file “06-17-0a” onto MCE.
It’s for CPUID 1067A, platform ID 11 (0, 4), revision A0B, date 2010-09-28 which is later than the one in my BIOS. It said that this was not the latest version however. I saw somewhere else, maybe this thread, of a later version dated 2015 I think. Is this correct, if so, why is it not in the Intel archive?
Thanks for any help.

Read the last bullet point at the Microcode repository. This exact question has been answered multiple times in previous posts as well.

in the last intel microcode package there is for 306F2 cpu only version 38, why?

Okay thanks. So you can pick a different platform code as long as it includes the platforms of the one you’re replacing. There are 3 entries in file "06-17-0a": 11, 44, A0 all dated 2010, all version A0B. Anyway, don’t want to trouble you so I’ll see if I can come up with a good search term to find the answer.

No idea, the latest can be found at the github repository.

Exactly.

You can get the latest from the github repository.

Okay, but what is the source of that? I mean how is there a newer version in the repository than the one in the official Intel download?
Thanks for your help.

Magic smoke releases hidden microcodes sometimes

I don’t know how the repository works, haven’t been here long enough. For all I know random people on the internet may submit files and they get included. Does anyone know the source please? If not I’ll just use the older version from Intel. Many thanks.

Intel is the source of all microcodes, no one can edit them or change them etc (Except add/remove padding). They are pulled from BIOS sources, Manufacturer sources, Intel sources, Linux sources etc.
You will have to wait on someone else to give you a more official answer, but those are the latest, Intel’s site is slow to update and sometimes doesn’t want to share with us too.

Okay, thanks for your help.

I don´t know if someone mentioned it. For Z370 and Z390 are different MC for 8 core CPU. For Z370 906EC A2 should be used and for Z390 906EC A0.

Inside AMD Combo_PI 1.0.0.1 are some new ÂľCodes:

Yes, they were reported yesterday as well. Thank you “[P3D] Crashtest”, regardless. For microcodes not in DB, please post at Intel, AMD & VIA CPU Microcode Repositories Discussion.

Where MCE 1.35 version?
