Hello,
Has someone successfully cleared ME with me_cleaner on ASUS Z97-PRO motherboard (internal flashing with OEM firmware)?
@bonjor - What is the intention here? ME Cleaner is not used for many things people think it’s meant for, so wonder what you wanting to do.
If you are wanting to disable ME, then yes it probably works on this system, but you will need ME Flash access either via BIOS already flashed with ME-Reflash enabled and then flash ME region via ME FW Update tool, or unlock FD and flash ME via FPT, or pinmod then flash ME via FPT.
Hello,
I have Asus Z97-PRO motherboard and I want to disable Intel ME with modified BIOS.
I have downloaded original BIOS from Asus website (see attachment: Z97-PRO-ASUS-3503.zip).
Next I “unpacked” capsule file Z97-PRO-ASUS-3503.CAP to ROM file by UEFITool (this is just removing 2KB from beginning of CAP file).
Next I run me_cleaner:
Am I doing this right? Can someone check validity of my modified image (Z97-pro-mod.rom)?
Right now I want to flash this modified BIOS to motherboard. My motherboard support USB Flashback feature with Z97P.CAP file on USB stick.
Is it enough to rename Z97-pro-mod.rom file to Z97P.CAP, put on USB stick then flash with USB Flashback?
Z97-PRO-ASUS-3503.zip (5.53 MB)
Z97-pro-mod.zip (4.59 MB)
@johnnyy :
Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum!
I have moved your post into this better matching already existing thread and hope, that you will get support here.
Yes, this is the way to get a modded BIOS successfully flashed by using the ASUS USB Flashback feature, but I doubt, that you will get this way rid of the Intel ME Region, which is currently within your mainboard’s BIOS chip.
Good luck!

@johnnyy - if you need disabled ME it’s better to set ME reserved bit via FITc (at bottom of “ME Kernel” section)
Either way, you will need flash programmer probably to be able to re-write ME region, or do E1 pinmod and unlock your FD, or we may be able to do E6
