is just stumbled upon this explanation on how to flash a modded Bios on a Lenovo thinkpad x220. please see steps and files here:

I understand that Lenovo does not allow flashing unsigned Bios files via software methods. Only methods I know is via hardware Flasher.
Anynone knows why and how this flashing method succeeds?
It would be very handy if we could employ this method for other Lenovo hardware Like thinkcentre desktops. I right now shy away from flashing modded Bios on lenovo because you have to use a very time consuming Hardware Flashing Method.
I realize this is an old post, but wanted to respond for anyone who might run across it:
It is possible to flash a modified BIOS to Lenovo ThinkPad models in the X220 generation and earlier using software only. Hardware flashing is typically only necessary for the X230/T430 generation and newer.
For a few models in the later generation including X230, X230 Tablet, T430, T430s, T530 and W530 there is also the software-only 1vyrain process.
