Microcodes and performance

it is a well known fact that changing microcodes could have a noticeable impact on the CPU and system performance.
has anybody made any attempt to put up some sort of ranking about performance, at least for the last generations of Intel and AMD CPus?

I it such a dumb idea?

No, but it is a trade-off between “performance” (as in speed) and “performance” (as in correctness of operation).

If you are not seriously overclocking in the first place, it is usually a no-brainer: correctness of operation is more important. No one wants a rig that hangs every now and then.

I don’t group the expensive security fixes on this because you can easily disable those on any O.S. that is not a joke should you feel inclined to do so, and the microcode updates almost always have more changes in them than just side-channel-related security fixes.

How are you able to know this? I’m not doubting/disputing, just wondering myself. And what other types of fixes are there (for example)? Again, just curious.
