Microsoft Surface 3 Laptop UEFI fpt BIOS Dump

Hello Friends! Trying to dump bios bin for Microsoft Surface 3 to recover UEFI password but running into error when running FPTW64 in CMD in Administrator mode:

fptw64.exe -bios -d dump.bin
Intel (R) Flash Programming Tool Version: 13.0.37.1556

Failed to Initialize driver for accessing PCI device.

Error 51: Could Not access PCI device.
Error 51: Could not access PCI device.
Error 64: Failed to initialize SPI interface.
FPT Operation Failed.

More Details:

  1. I don’t know the UEFI password, dumping bios to recover password
  2. Using CSME System Tools v13.0 r7
  3. Laptop Model: Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 1867
    Processor: i5-1035G7
    BIOS: UEFI
    BIOS Version/Date: 19.101.140, 4/11/2024
    SMBIOS Version: 3.3
    Intel Mgt Service Engine:
    Firmware: 13.0.67.2384
    Driver Version: 2334.5.1.0, 8/24/2023
    OS: Windows 11 Pro

FPT -i
FPT -bios -d bios_reg.bin

If it can’t be read then usually it cannot be written… get an IC SPI programmer.

Maybe the fastest one…
You may look in the forum for other Surface issues (Pass or corrupt bios recover) and draw your own conclusions from those user’s actions.
