Modding/Flashing of a Dell G5 15 5590 BIOS

(“Compilation”) Dell G5 15 5590 - i7-9750H - GTX1650M - VULCAN15_N18E

Target = flashing modded Bios

  • “unsuppress” hidden Menus

  • ReBar / adding DXE driver/modules - update Driver

  • GPU TDP “increasing” *Vbios/Shunt mod* (customized Cooling/Heatsink)

————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Working :

  • unlock Bios ( Cvar_Settings for Undervolting, etc )
  • read/write SPI regions (except EC)
  • activate “4G Above” for ReBar

NOT working so far (28.12.25) :

- modified biosreg file with inserted DXE module results in NO DISPLAY after reboot !

————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Current Steps/Issues :

  • FPF Verified Boot / Boot Guard IBB / protected regions/volumes /mod. effect..
  • “checking/verifying” inserted_biosreg.zip (5.1 MB) - DXE module (noPatch)
  • “bypass - effect” when using CH341a Programmer vs Internal flashing

Hey, sorry for beeing “another” clueless one having the idea to do some fun stuff with… this stuff …

Please dont get my request wrong, i am sure everything i need can be found here already and i have highest respect to all the people putting alot of time in writing all this Infos/Guides and helping so many people with their issues.

I try to find all the stuff and tools i need, but i absolutely will be glad if someone have a bit time and can guide me in the right direction. In the meantime i try to do small tiny steps, and no errors..

————————————————————————————————————————————————

Back in my days, bios was just a file on a chip and not embedded with other stuff and protected like hell, so all this is a new thing to do for me.

I can extract a bios an read tu Uefi Protocol to find some VarStoreInfos.

What brings me “here” was that i just quick wanted to add ResizeBar to my GPU.

But i couldnt figure out or manage to flash anything. Reading the infos i could find let it seem quit a huge Task to manage until the point where it would even be possible.

For me, i cant even really define where i should start, have 30 Tabs with Stuff and guides and it is just too much to get an idea, what is the guideline i should follow, what is not outdated, what is related to my task, what is leading elsewhere and exclude steps i have to follow… you get me what i want to say…

Every Input is highly appreciated

This takes time… your time, you really cant expect users to lose their own time on this, you’ll have to read and learn a bit sir, this is not a simple request or an easy task to perform based on remote posts of a forum with no base knowledge from the user itself.

And this is a branded laptop system board/bios… not so easy compared to a retail desktop motherboard, so many of your goals cant be confirmed in a “snap of a finger” and will require tests on your part, this evolves the use of a programmer and several try outs.

I totally confirm, what MeatWar has written. For users, who have no knowledge about how to modify a BIOS and how to get a modded BIOS properly flashed, the chances are extremely high, that they get finally a bricked PC/laptop.
Here are the links to some Guides:
>BIOS Modding: Introduction and Preparations<
>[Guide] Manual AMI UEFI BIOS Modding<
>[Guide] HowTo flash a modded AMI UEFI BIOS< (only partly usable for a Dell BIOS)

Good luck!
