So, recently my friend ordered a 600W PSU and a ZOTAC GTX 1650 AMP GPU to install on his old desktop (HP h8-1010pt (Portuguese version)) thinking that any GPU would work on that motherboard (which is a pegatron corporation 2ab5 motherboard).
The PSU worked just fine, but when he tried to boot the computer with the new GPU, he didn’t succeed as the computer froze in the boot logo and, after some time turned on, reproducing some beeps (1 beep followed by 3 other beeps) which I think means that the GPU isn’t compatible. Doing some research I found that the motherboard only supports some GPU’s which I guess it’s because HP blocked it so you can’t upgrade to newer graphics (?)
After doing more researching, I found this forum post by someone with a similiar problem (and a similiar motherboard) but it wasn’t too conclusive for me, but it gave me hope that modding the BIOS could somehow help making the motherboard accept the new GPU. What I learned from this forum post was that there are hidden options on the BIOS such as Video OPROM and Legacy ROM (which I think should be the solution for this problem, according to that forum post).
I’ve managed to extract a bios .rom file from a BIOS update I found on HP’s website, which is on my google drive. Download link
Anything you need in order to help me I will give it to you.
I still have hopes that my friend didn’t waste his money
