Hello all, I am very new to this forum and I think it’s the smartest I have found. Nevertheless I did not found a solution to my problem. I bought 2x16GB DDR3 to replace the 2x8GB RAM on my motherboard. The laptop doesn’t accept it. Aida says North Bridge accepts 32GB RAM, Intel says the CPU (intel i7-4870HQ) accepts 32GB RAM, but MSI says the motherboard only accepts 16GB RAM. With one or two (doesn’t matter) new modules the laptop seems to do something, but it doesn’t show anything on any screen. With one 8GB module and an 16GB module it start’s but the 16GB module remains under “Hardware reserved”, OS using just the 8GB module. I think I have to modufy bios in order to get them work. I downloaded the latest bios (which is from 2015), updated it - no change. I then tried setting the access level from that bios file with AMIBCP to user, but I cannot flash the modified bios. The onboard UEFI APTIO V says “Failed, wrong Image Format 11!”, and AFUDOS from bootable stick says “18 - Error: Secure Flash Rom Verify Fail”. That’s the state right now. I read a lot but did not find any solution yet. I will be very thankful for any help
Haswell (desktop/laptop) supports normally max. 32 GB DDR3 on 4 sockets, 8 GB on each socket
You cannot flash a custom BIOS image, they are encrypted, you will need a modified BIOS flasher to do this.
Thanks for the responses. Where can I get a modified bios flasher? Isn’t AfuDos one?
