I need a bit of help with windows 7 on hp zbook 15 G6 that is Intel core i7-9850H (coffee lake h) with motherboard HP 860F and chipset Intel CM246 (cannon lake h).
Thanks to SDI driver packs I managed to get working almost everything except few devices.
The main problem is the battery that is not recognized by windows 7. It says that battery is not detected. But battery itself works and gets charged.
So basically it needs the correct driver.
But to find it I need device id that can be PCI or USB or ACPI device id. Unfortunately it’s nothing that can point to it or in windows device manager or in such tools like hwinfo or AIDA64.
So my question is which device and driver really does all the interactions with the smart battery? My guess was that I need to look into ACPI and battery inf in windows 10 but it’s nothing obvious there.
Or may be someone already did the drivers pack for CM246 or for the compatible chipset in Windows 7?
I saw similar questions on this forum but it was no answers ![]()
Another problem is the built-in sound device.
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A348&SUBSYS_860F103C&REV_10
PCI\VEN_8086&CC_040100
It’s a Realtek with intel SST and OED. Did anyone managed to get it working under Windows 7?
As far as I can see Realtek has drivers for Windows 7 but I can’t find the driver for this revision of Intel SST and OED.
And without it it’s no sound. I can connect external sound card via USB (that works fine) or send audio to HDMI monitors but not to the internal speakers.
In fact it’s a problem even under windows 10… I am not sure is it some sort of the hardware-related problem but intel OED driver fails under windows 10.
It can be something about BIOS or something intermittent because sound works under Linux just out of the box.
but not under Windows 10… or 7…
And the official drivers from HP can’t help. I tried it under Windows 10 1809 and Windows 21H2 but it failed.
It’s two different versions for 1809 and 21H2.
It may be recognized in device manager just after the installation but fails instantly with the error code:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
FW did not sent FW ready notification.
And it’s a similar problem with the drivers from the latest SDI drivers pack. I see that device id has the perfect match of the PCI device id but SDI drivers pack fails to install. It’s the instant error for all driver versions in the latest SDI drivers pack.
I saw the messages in the HP and Dell forums that some windows updates can break intel SST and OED and you need some sort of magical sequences just to get it back.
Did anyone solved this problem?
It’s something really flaky with Intel OED and HP. It can be something about BIOS. Because I see the really strange behavior with Intel Bluetooth
USB\VID_8087&PID_0029&REV_0001
that is switched off(!) in BIOS but it’s still visible(!) under Windows 7. However when you boot Windows 10 it’s not detected and not in the list of the devices.
You can switch it on and off in BIOS and see exactly the same behavior in Windows 10 but not under Windows 7 where it’s always visible…
I guess that Windows 7 has the different approach when scanning the internal usb bus for connected devices or HP programmers just don’t send the right command to disable Bluetooth.
Also is it possible to find Windows 7 driver for this device?
I tried and I see one driver for Acer laptop with this id USB\VID_8087&PID_0029&REV_0001 but it didn’t install correctly.
Another observation is that SDI driver pack tries (and fails) to install drivers for this Bluetooth but these drivers are with prefix 10 what suggest that it may be bug or it may be possible to find the correct windows 7 driver?.
