NET 4.5 issue blocking 13.1 installer on Win 8.1 - can't find the thread with the workaround

I’m reinstalling my old X79 board and see that the recommendation has now changed - it used to be 12.9.4.1000 and now it’s 13.1.0.1058.
That’s fine except I’m hitting the old RST installer issue where it can’t recognise NET 4.5 is installed on Win 8.1 because the NET version up to 4.7.x now.

Can someone remind me of the fix, or point to the link? Thanks

Do I need to update the orom if I switch software, or is it safe to leave the orom as it was (it’s been very stable)? The board is Asus X79 Deluxe - the black & gold one - and I’m keeping on an older BIOS because the newer ones got less stable for my board

(It might also be worth adding to the stickies as it might affect other installers)

>Here< is the link to the thread you are obviously searching for.

If I were you, I would update the Intel RAID ROM to v13.1.0.2126. You may not realize it after the update, but you should keep in mind, that the v12 and v13 drivers and Option ROM modules belong to different Intel RST platforms.
Question: Has your on-board Intel SATA Controller running in RAID mode at all? If not, there is no need to take care about the Intel RAID ROM module of the BIOS - it will not be used by the system.

Thanks - the Fernando special modded installers worked perfectly.

I’ve only ever used them to force an install when Intel said “no”, not as a workaround for the NET issue, so I wasn’t looking at those before. Maybe make a note on the main “what is the best RST” pages?

I do use RAID (raid-1 with caching SSD for the local VMs) so this is useful.

There isn’t a prebuilt orom mod on the site or at bios-mods, for my board. I can probably mod it when I have a chance, with the tools on the site. But until then, can you confirm there’s no data corruption/stability problem with using 13.1 software/driver matched with a 12.x era orom? (I think I have 12.9 or similar, but not sure)

@Stilez :
As long as the RST driver and the related Software is newer resp. has a higher version than the Intel RST RAID ROM module, there is nothing to worry about.
