No usb with integral edition

Hello.

i installed windows xp with : Windows XP Professional SP3 x86 - Integral Edition 2021.5.15.
with a ps2 keyboard

i tried :
[3] Add MovAX-Gen2 USB3.X xHCI driver (Backported Win8 driver).
[M] Add AMD/Intel v145 USB3.0 xHCI driver (Patched Win7 AMD driver).
[N] Add AMD/Intel v276 USB3.0 xHCI driver (Patched Win7 AMD driver).

each time the usb doesn’t work (error code 10),
also other devices have error code 10, like my pci-express ethernet RTL8111E 10-1.

Edit : This pci-express ethernet now works after disabling/reenabling or reinstalling the driver,
doing the same doesn’t work fur the usb3.

i used each time with :

[A] (YES) Add Kernel-Mode Driver Framework 1.11 (Backported Win7 driver).
[B] (YES) Add UAS/UASP driver (Improves USB storage device performance).

xhci hand off + legacy usb : enabled in the bios.

motherboard : ASUS PRIME-B460I-PLUS

intel USB controller of the motherboard : PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A3AF

usb doesn’t work in win 8.1 x86. (EDIT : now it works in win 8.1 x86)
it works on win 10 20H2 x64.

thank you for the help.

@Bumpy

are you sure it doesn’t work in windows 8? it should be working.

yes. thank you for the answer.

EDIT : Sorry yes, usb now works in win 8.

------------

The error of the usb driver : USB xHCI Compliant Host Controller : Couldn’t start error 10.

asus drivers for usb don’t exist, it’s a generic intel so i must be doing something wrong.

it’s a mini-itx motherboard so only one pci-express for the graphics card.

@Bumpy

I have a similar issue on my AMD Threadripper system, but on mine in windows 8.1 in legacy BIOS mode the USB works - So it’s not exactly the same as yours.

Like you I think it is an ACPI related issue, but so far the only solution I have to the error code 10 is to use a separate PCI-E USB 3.0 card (these do work without issue) then selecting my motherboards USB 3.0 controller and disabling and re-enabling it.

Hello. Thank you.

i will try what you wrote with an ASMedia 1042.

Edit :
After changing bios options : the usb now works in win 8.1 in legacy bios ->
the microsoft driver from 2014 in win 8.1 x86 works perfectly (in win 8.1).

i tried what you wrote : the ASMedia 1042 (usb3) works, (the usb drivers of the integral (mov ax dead usb3 driver) worked directly, i just had to do Next Next Next, root and controller drivers installed, and usb worked with the asmedia, no need of asmedia drivers)

but always error 10 (this device cannot start) for the usb of the motherboard (after many enabling disabling etc).

also I tried acpi.sys md5=2e1438d31b8ba28fe96d549dfa6b7e50
with installing WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB2864202-x86-INTL.exe
and drivers of USBXHCI_UASP_XP_x86 : same error 10.

@infuscomus
in the device manager in win xp do you have the usb hub and the usb controller or only the usb controller?

can you tell the chipset (or the model) of the pci-express card you used?

thank you.

good to hear that it works.

I have USB hubs as well as the controller, any devices connected to it have 0000 for VID and PID though until I re-enable.

PCI\VEN_1B21&DEV_2142 - ASM2142 USB 3.1 Host Controller

and disabling/enabling did not work?
@diderius6 any ideas?

@infuscomus @Bumpy

There may be an Irq conflict for the USB driver.

Try the following: Install the Integral XP without any USB and use the default acpi.sys.
Use only settings 4, H, in Integrator menu.

After installing XP via PS/2 board only
go to website from @daniel_k

https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads…hardware.81607/

and fetch from there the very last USB driver. Install first
http://www.mediafire.com/file/eh7tny15b5…86-INTL.7z/file
and after this download the newest USB driver from @Mov_AX_0xDEAD
http://www.mediafire.com/file/pgf5hspnlb…_XP_x86.7z/file
and install.

Look, that in Windows\System32\drivers the driver storport.sys appears.
And look in device manager, if USB shares an Irq with another device

Hello thanks

with 2021.5.15 - 4,H : the installation stops at :
- Installing Devices
- Setup is detecting and installing devices on your computer
- Please wait while Setup detects and installs…
https://postimg.cc/s1r3hXNB

(nothing at the keyboard works at this screen,
the Next button is not grey anymore as on the photo,
i waited 10 min,
i shutdown the computer, i retried, same, i waited 40 min)

---------------------------------------

months ago : the installation worked, i used 2021.5.15 - 1,3,4,5,7,A,B,C,E.

i will try tomorrow other options.

@Bumpy

Hm, this looks for me very much, that a device does not like to work with XP.
What you can try:

1.) Use USB keyboard instead of PS/2 keyboard. Change settings in Integrator menu for to reach this.
2.) Disable everything in Bios, that you do not need for install of XP.

In my case, when I have such a situation, I install XP SP3 via original Setup CD Rom, only with last acpi.sys and driver for Sata.
If install finished ok, I integrate all other devices via its drivers by hand

Dietmar

i tried as you said : stuck at detecting devices for 2021.5.15 - 4,H,
i can’t disable the motherboard usb controller of the chipset, only ports.

i tried again : 2021.5.15 - 4,H and wait more : (ACPI + Universal Intel SATA)
still stuck at detecting devices, i waited 2 hours.

i have nothing in the pci-express,
most things possible are desactivated in the bios : audio, ethernet, uefi…

i tried : 2021.5.15 - 1,4,H : (ACPI +mov ax, 0xdead SATA) :
Windows installs,

i install the kmdf 1.11 then the mov ax, 0xdead usb 3 : error code 10.

ACPI : changed to Standard PC :
same (error code 10).

pci-express Ethernet realtek (with win xp drivers of year 2007) : error code 10.

(RTL8111E 10-1, in Standard PC or ACPI).
https://i.postimg.cc/QhHwp56t/RTL8111-E-10-1-XP.png

---------------------------------------

i tried 2021.5.15 - 1,4,5,7,C,E (no usb3 driver) : xp works,
after manually installing usb 3 : error code 10.

i tried 2021.5.15 - 1,3,4,5,7,A,B,C,E (with usb3 driver) : xp works,
no usb working (error code 10).

Photos https://disk.yandex.fr/d/j6X1VXrNmdDy4Q
(no problem of irq i think)
manually installing any amd&intel usb driver : restart instantly of the computer.
bios : i updated to the last one : PRIME-B460I-PLUS-ASUS-1401

---------------------------------------

Edit : all the win x86 versions i tried : 8, 8.1 and win 10 : have the usb working,
even the developer preview of win 8 32bit.

I tried with win 7 sp1 of generation2 : usb works,
win 7 sp1 of team os : usb works.

@infuscomus
@diderius6

i see my pci-express ethernet (RTL8111E 10-1) also gives error code 10,
screenshot : https://i.postimg.cc/QhHwp56t/RTL8111-E-10-1-XP.png,

do you have devices with this error code 10 (or only usb3)?

@Bumpy

On one board the lan driver works with XP from Ramsey and on other not, a little bit strange.
I also get yellow questionmark and Code 10.
But always, when I integrate later lan driver by hand, it works.
I see, that you have no ACPI, only Standard PC.
Do you want this
Dietmar

i tried standard pc for testing, but also error code 10 as in acpi.
i will try reinstalling the driver.

---------------------------------------

Edit : i disabled the ethernet device then reenabled and it works finally,
reinstalling the driver also works, thank you for the idea,
(i also reinstalled integral edition this morning, XP is in acpi).

https://i.postimg.cc/L6gcNXZg/RTL8111-E-10-1-XP.png

so disabling/enabling the device
or reinstall of the driver is necessary.

i will try again (like a few months ago with your advice infuscomus) to do many disabling/enabling (and reinstall) for the usb3.

---------------------------------------

Edit : same result as before : always error 10 for the usb3. (with the driver of mov ax dead in the integral of may 2021).
i tried in acpi and in standard pc.

I have this same issue with an AMD USB 3.0 controller, so you’re not alone there.
