No volatile volume cache settings options.

Dear win-raid users,

I have a problem with my new RAID configuration
Indeed, on my previous configuration (an old RAID installation) I was able to configure the write back caching directly in the Intel RST software as you can see in the hereunder screenshot:

*This screenshot is not coming from my personal installation

But now, there is no more options of this kind in the “Performance” tab.

I have checked if something went wrong with “Volume policy” in the Windows “Devices manager” but I don’t think so, but maybe you can contradict me:

I don’t know what can I do more but I would like to activate this option in order to accelerate the initialization of the RAID array (it will take ages… 1% in 1 day approximately)

Have you an idea of what can I do to have again this option?

Many thanks in advance!

PS: I have installed the latest Intel RST 12.8.2.1000

Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

Please check the "Administration" (GĂ©rer) tab of the RST Console. There should be the option to activate the Write-Back Caching. Maybe you have to click onto the "Advanced Options".

I have enabled both options.

Fernando

Thanks for your answer Fernando,

But I am sorry to say that it is not possible to activate the option in the “Administration” tab, there is indeed an option to show which cache mode is activated but not to change it :’(

PS: my RAID array is 5x2TB (I’ve forgotten to precise it in my previous post)

I have no idea, why you are not able to activate Write-Back Caching with your new system.
I suspect a BIOS or special OS setting, which prevents the ability to use this Intel RST Console feature for your system.
