I have installed windows 10 and have an Asus H170 Pro (intel H170 chipset with Intel Rapid Storage 14.6 drivers & UEFI bios).
I have 6 discs , 2 X RAID 1, but with my current 2 discs (2 X WD 2 GB) I have not the ‘CREATE’ option in the Intel Rapid Storage program.
Although my other 2 RAID 1 arrays were created without a problem. I can create the RAID 1 with my 2 boot discs in the boot part of the Intel rapid Storage (with CTRL-I) but not in windows.
What can this be ? I installed windows 10 in UEFI mode.

Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!
Maybe not all on-board Intel SATA ports do support “Raid” or there are at least 2 on-board Intel SATA Controllers (1 of them without RAID support).
I recommend to check your mainboard manual.

I can create the RAID array of my boot discs, but only in the Option ROM of the boot screen (by pressing CTRL-I at booting).
Not in Windows . (no ‘CREATE’). When I create the array in the option ROM , does I loose all the data of these 2 discs for RAID 1 ?
Or do I better update the UEFI “raiddriver” of my UEFI BIOS (modding the BIOS) to version 14.8 ?
@ FSHEHTESI:
I don’t know the reason why your Intel RST Console Software doesn’t show the related button, but the usual way to create a RAID array is to do it by using the Intel RAID Utility, which is part of the BIOS (either by hitting CTRL+I or by joining the Intel Rapid Storage Technolgy tab within the UEFI BIOS). So you are able to create the desired RAID1 array anyway.
It makes no difference, whether you use the LEGACY or the UEFI mode Intel RAID Utility.
Thanks, but where can I find the utility in my UEFI BIOS ? I only see the option in the UEFI bios :
Intel Rapid Storage
YES / NO
I can switch between ‘yes’ and ‘no’.
Set the “Intel Rapid Storage” setting to “Yes” and the Intel SATA Controller to “RAID”. Within the “BOOT” section you have either to set the CSM to “Disabled” or to choose the EFI compatible ROM settings.
Then reboot and enter the BIOS again. Now you should find the “Intel Rapid Storage Technology” tab. Look into your mainboard manual, where you can expect it.
Thanks. It worked. I now see the "Intel Rapid Storage" and the options under the "Advanced" tab. Only the strange thing is that I still can only create the RAID 1 array in the BIOS (Option ROM or UEFI "RAIDDRIVER"). I still do not see the "CREATE" command in windows 10 64 bit for my 2 discs in the Intel Rapid Storage software.
This is not a big problem, because
a) you are able to create the RAID array nevertheless and
b) the creation of a RAID array is not the task of the Intel RST Software.:
Not big, but a problem, since I cannot create a backup for the moment. If it worked in windows , I could easily make the mirror (RAID 1) (select ‘Create’ and choose the option to keep the data on the disc on port 0).
@ FSHEHTESI:
It is generally not possible to create a RAID array from within Windows, if one of the desired RAID array members contains the boot sector of the currently running OS. Otherwise you would not be able thereafter to boot into Windows again.
So your problem is not caused by an issue, but by a feature of the Intel RST Software.
that helped. thanks
